"Words had to change their ordinary meaning and to take that which was now given them. Reckless audacity came to be considered the courage of a loyal ally; prudent hesitation, specious cowardice; moderation was held to be a cloak for unmanliness; ability to see all sides of a question, inaptness to act on any. Frantic violence became the attribute of manliness"
-Thucydides
Obama’s favorite trick [is] touching someone on the shoulder, as he did to President Bush at the White House, and leaning on the CJ’s chair. Totally inappropriate and a power play on O’s part.
I remember someone saying the exact same thing about GWB - the difference being that there was video footage to prove it. W remains a very tactile guy, and most definitely strays into the power play/inappropriate arena. I can't somehow imagine Obama coming up behind Angela Merkel and giving her a shoulder rub.
Yep. Anything Obama does, even if Bush did it too, will result in massive criticism from the ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) freepers. Bush could eat a live puppy tail first with its face toward the camera on national TV and they would cheer his bravery. Obama could turn Iraq into a powerful U.S. ally, kill Osama bin Laden and Ahmadinejad with his bare hands, end the recession and pave the streets with gold, and they'd call him a traitor and claim that every good thing he did was already set up by Bush.
