I've read where Freepers don't believe Snopes because they think it's "liberal." The only way I assume they could think that is if they debunk more liberal-leaning rumors than conservative ones? I think? Who knows what goes on in the mind of the average Freeper.

Not that I know anything about these things, I just looked it up because I had never heard that about Snopes.

As for reality, I just have to say that while many Freepers are reality-challenged, most of them are not. There's a hard core more or less controlled and influenced by JR, for sure. But in the big picture, most of them are far less ignorant and floating out in space than most of the posters here, kiddo :).
If "most of the posters here" are far less ignorant than freepers, please do explain the massive amount of things those of us who post here have debunked. If by "most" you mean "some," as in "some I lost an argument to," that still hardly means "most of us are ignorant.

Well, I can explain to some degree of course. Many Freepers, much more than your average cross-section, are highly educated civilians. There's a huge number of civil engineers, architects, PhD's and such. Back in the early days, before all the infighting they actually collected and put online their personal details. So is you think it's all redneck hillbillys, you're sadly mistaken.
DeleteThere's also a huge number of ex and current military professionals, some of them highly decorated. In my misspent hippy youth (yeah, I was an anarchist. Prayed for from the pulpit by the last hell-and-brimstone priest in the country, no less :) I spent a couple of months crosscountry skiing with with a gang of airforce officers, and came away with a very healthy respect for the level of education these guys have to have *and maintain*.
Some of them are assholes, of course. But they ARE very competent. For example: do any of you remember the movie "we were soldiers, and young"? The Vietnam piece with Mel Gibson? The main character from that movie is a Freeper. He's decorated like christmas tree. He's also an asshole. But in the real world, I'll take his judgement over yours any day ;).
Actually, if you look at Alexa rankings for Free Republic, a large majority of the people who spend time on the site have little to no education beyond an associates degree.

DeleteAnyway, Alexa just shows the total number of visitors to the site. It makes no distinction between visitors who are actual Freepers and visitors who go there for entertainment, like we do. We also know that some Freepers visit DU to post the "DUmmie Funnies" they find oh-so-hilarious.
Who knows? Maybe people like us are driving up the college-educated statistics for FR and Freepers are driving them down for DU. That's certainly a possibility, wouldn't you say?

And it was known from the start that only around 10% of the registered Freepers were actual posters. Stats lie. Almost as badly as Obama.
But don't despair. there does actually exist a fairly complete - almost disgustingly so - member registry of the Freepers, their ages, background, addresses and more. It's not completely up to date, because the effort was withdrawn amid all the infighting. But more importantly, we have it :).
