You know, as Minorshan has pointed out, now that freeper's version of 'Real Americans' is starting to mean 'Ferengi,' it's actually kind of ironic, since (my guess, but it seems rather obvious, to me at least) the Ferengi were created as sort of a "values and opinions of the past/present that we used to have/need to get get of" race, kinda of an "everything bad about our past/present views" multiplied by about 20 (no more, IMHO) to create a race of BAD guys to oppose the characters. (It more or less failed in that role.) Now that one portion of the demographic os actually starting to approximate them, in reality, not fixation, it's pretty darned ironic. And somewhat alarming. And sad.
