Why don't you go up to a Black guy (assuming you are not black) as use the term on him and observe his reaction? The Census form has already run into controversy due to the use of the "Negro" term. My original point though is that unless libs give the same treatment to Reid as they would gave given to a GOPer making the same exact statement, libs have NO right to lecture anyone on racism.

As to your charge of hypocrisy, no doubt some liberals overplay the race-card. I'm no a big fan of Al Sharpton (though he was hilarious running for President in 2004). But I see two problems with the hypocricy argument.
First, just because liberals abusively accuse their opposition of racism doesn't mean the right a free pas to do the same. Noth are wrong.
Second, I find Reid's statement unfortunate, but not evidence of racism. The content seems to a rather true analysis of the American electorate. Use of 'Negro' alone is insufficient evidence of racism, especially considering Reid's civil-rights history. Most of the so-called 'same exact statements' from the right I hear about seem pretty easily distinguishable.
