ReplyDeleteOne of the Republicans strengths is their ability to always stay on message - everything conforms to the message. If it does not, it is forced to conform to the message.
You saw this a bit earlier in the year, when Fox had about two weeks on the price of gas because the Republicans had unified under the message of high petrol prices are Obamas fault.
Here, though, they can't seem to come up with a message. Mitts admitted to it already, so it's not a conspiracy. There's no possible way to spin "I don't care about half the country" as positive, and insulting the elderly and the troops just pisses nearly everyone off. And this is an economy issue, so he can't say "lets just move on".
There's no message to get behind, and so the Freepers are without orders from above. And as such, you have people who only know how to take what to think straight from Rush Limbaugh and Fox News trying to think for themselves.
This is where you can tell they're screwed - they have no answer. There is no walking back from this. And its fascinating to watch this just in the context of Freepers, cause it shows their true colours. For all their blather, its always them twisting the facts into what they know is right. And when they don't know why its right, they will try to find their own reasons, and the fact that their reasons are contradictory shows how bad they are at this.
