Black Panthers? Still? |
Oderit Dum Metuant: let them hate, so long as they fear. Alas, I'm laughing too hard to fear. |
Terrifying. |
Return of the blink! |
Another vacation, time for the weakest of memes. |
This is a new graphic. Please stop this. |
"Words had to change their ordinary meaning and to take that which was now given them. Reckless audacity came to be considered the courage of a loyal ally; prudent hesitation, specious cowardice; moderation was held to be a cloak for unmanliness; ability to see all sides of a question, inaptness to act on any. Frantic violence became the attribute of manliness" -Thucydides
Yes, it's not quite the "flood" of illegals that the right-wing blogosphere has been in hysterics over.
ReplyDeleteIf the jimcompoop hopes to scare up a few donations over this, he's going to have to send sick-o and humbledummy into town to find a few dark skinned people to pose for a few pics.
@kisglov3s: That's only when a Republican is president.

There is a flood of illegals not just in the area the pics were taken. I bet there is an Olive Garden within 3 blocks.
They were against Putin until his recent actions (re, doing things Obama disagrees with).
ReplyDeleteWhy the blinking? So weird.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing it is the look most freepers get from normal people when they spout their idiotic message. Freepers think it means people are stupid but really what else could you respond with other than just staying quite and blinking at them while backing away slowly.
DeleteJim is flailing a little, again. I see he has his first $1000 donation in from Wisconsin, and he has managed to get a post out of Lazamataz. What's up with that is of course anyone's guess :).
ReplyDeleteHow come Freerepublic is so old and antiquated? You'd think with $340,000 a year it would be more user friendly. Of course that is MY take on the question. I'm sure the OP was just asking a simple question.

Ahh, fear and hate. Truly the most noble of Christian values.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting that link. The blurry photos of RimJob et al are just hilarious. LOfuckingL.
ReplyDeleteMaybe our boy EC can fly down there in his invisible plane to help out!
Call me boy again and you will be in a world of hurt. I don't recall insulting you, ever. Hard to tell since you hide behind anonymous. I tolerate insults, for a while. But only for a while.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you don't comprehend the idea of a running joke among friends, you have even bigger problems. Like finding some.
Let me lay this out for you - nice and clear. I fly choppers. Go in and get people out of the shit they are neck deep in. Nothing more. Nothing less. It's not glamorous. No one is going to make a movie of my life. The movies get made about the folks I pick up. Prefer it that way.
In my down time I am a decent enough pulp author, a fairly indifferent father/grand father and a pretty terrible husband. After 40 years the shine comes off the silver a bit.
I have no idea when this one was posted on FR since this is from the FR.txt twitter feed, but holy shit

Here it is. It's from back in 2004, posted by Askel5 in a thread titled Plea reached in 'thong night' case.
DeleteAskel is really an odd piece of work. She was zotted at FR back in the day when she was doing her antisemitic song and dance at Libertyforum, but she's back in again. She had a stalker, also a Freeper, and some deeply embarrassing stuff about a peepshow and "implements" :).
DeleteLinks or it never happened
Delete4chan really has contributed another level of idiocy to human understanding, haven't they? Identity, and I *may* dig into the databases here going back to 2005 and see if that passage is there :). But you'll never get links, because the internet content is gone.
DeleteIn case you hadn't noticed, there's several services scrubbing unpopular content - often called "reputation enhancers". One of the services is run by a character who used to work for Obama, and before that was part of the machinery that razed Jewish homes during the Gaza takeover.
Couple of points: the former Obama subject is Joel Leyden. He now "hates Obama" and is on FR as Israelbeach.
DeleteAskel's stalker was, I think, Senator Pardek. But she had another nemesis as well, a very unstable character claiming to be working for the CIA.
Bloody dangerous. If you got one leak anywhere in your support or planning you're just gone. Choppers are pretty soft.
ReplyDeleteI've bricked a few in my time, sometimes (well, twice) deliberately. Flight gets so pissed at me at times! Only scary time was the ditching one - I can't swim. The rest of the time you are too busy trying to crash as softly as possible to worry about dying. When you got 10 in the back depending on you, it's sort of important not to bounce too hard when you hit the deck.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, the ones I usually fly are built with idiotic/insane pilots in mind. Mi-24 Hinds, virtually indestructible, and you bless the genius that came up with the belly armor every time you go in.
Only real problem with them is when you gate them, one or more of the circuit breakers blows - and they are under your seat. Bloody hard to reach on the ground, never mind in the air at 300 kph. They also were designed for dwarfs - getting into the cockpit is an exercise for a circus contortionist :)
Leaks are a problem, always. But that applies to all branches of the services equally. Probably less so for me, since there is no time to leak - I get the call and go. On standby for immediate take off whenever there is a team out.
Had the odd set up happen, but you go in full bore and it scares the crap out of the scumbags. Only thing they are more terrified of is the A-10 - now that is a bit of kit I'd love to fly, but it's way beyond my skillset.
Lol. Back in my misspent college days my class spent a day with the chief computer designer for the A10. Don't ask me how that came about and how they managed to get him out here in the sticks. But he swore that every electronics part of that plane was in triplicate.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've heard that the Hind is pretty much a flying tank. The soviets weren't all stupid.
I think the A-10 was engineered to take into account the Hind A and B series lessons, Modular - you can take a starboard engine from one and put it on the port side of another. Multiple failsafes. Bit slow and massively armored in the belly and cockpit area. Pretty much everything is modular, for faster turn around in the shitholes, though the Hind has more analogue controls.
ReplyDeleteThat gun though ..... just once I would love to have a go. Got to wonder about the original designer - did he look at the biggest damned gun he could find and work out how to make it fly?
Still, you get in a spot of bother and have to shout for help, seeing one of those passing over and basically shredding a hillside into gravel is reassuring! Pretty sure every single A-10 pilot is required to learn the John Wayne voice though :)
You get them on the radio and it's calm, slightly bored, then they tell you when to duck. Good people. Know how to party hard, too.
From what the designer (I forget his name, it was back in 1981), it was big gun, plenty of engine, very slow, allround views and redundancy all over. With the pilot protected over everything, he sits in a full-size tub of titanium. I guess they could have gone for depleted uranium, but then they wouldn't be able to lug much ammo.
ReplyDeleteI hated those rounds with a passion. Even the .50 cal are heavy as hell. It's the usual trade off - the heavier the bullet, the more propellant you need and the bigger the brass has to be. Never mind the joys of knowing your balls (or other bits) will be glowing in the dark after lugging the damned things around next to your skin. Pretty damned sure they have killed more friendlies than hostiles over the years.
ReplyDeleteIt's like running load calcs - standard load out for a Hind is two full pods of basic heat seekers, 1500 rounds of .50 cal for the chin gun, and two seriously smart missiles on the stub tips. The other two hardpoints are drop tanks to let you get anywhere. Add weight, you get less range and, more importantly from my perspective, less speed. When I get the call I need to get there like "right now!" I'll trade half a pod's worth of bang for that extra 500 kilos of fuel any day.
