ReplyDeleteHoo, boy, these people.
Oh boy Bray again with his anti science post. he was the same guy who was elected as a Republic chairman in his state and he sent out an email so strange the local Republicans fired his ass.

He just can't connect theoretical science with technology at all. What a dope. Where does he think technology comes from? Handed down from God?
Deletewow ...
Deletealexander_busek: "Well, then just how is it (to mention only a more-recent example) that those scientists managed to manoever the space probe Dawn to within a few hundred km of Pluto last summer, take a slew of high-resolution images, and beam them 5 billion km back to Earth?"
itsahoot: "To be honest very little science was involved in that operation. Only Math and engineering, those are developed skills not new discoveries."
Come on, you can't be surprised by this. Some of these people genuinely think that the Earth is 6000 years old!
DeleteIf you can wholesale deny everything from Astrophysics to Geology it is more efficient cut to the chase and deny "science" entirely.
The ONE saving grace [sic] Trump has is he doesn't seem to personally be inclined to such preposterous obscurantism.
Ozy...King of the Seven Mountains is some made up doctrine that Dominionist throw out. That's what Cruz' father called him. The belief I believe is that Christians must take over the earth and then Jesus will come. I find it hilarious that Trump supporters on FR and using an anti "Christian" slur against Cruz. Haha...taking talking points from DU at that.

There are also the seven hills of Rome, which feature heavily in Revelations.

ReplyDeleteI can't speak as to the exact reason that poster used the image, but "seven mountains" is a reference to dominionism, specifically the kind preached by Cruz's father:

Apparently the pastor has called his son an "anointed king", so this is likely mocking that. It's probably a direct shot at Cruz' delusions of destiny rather than a criticism of pining for a theocracy, but I wouldn't be surprised if some paranoid freepers viewed the ominous and sometimes apocalyptic speech of dominionists with considerable suspicion. Some of the theology and phrases being used aren't a huge leap from the weirder Mormon/Catholic beliefs that many freepers are seemingly kept awake at night by.
