ReplyDeletePicture #1 (men in uniform): Shows how corrosive the military fetish that conservatives have is. Why again must a President have been a veteran, again? Last I heard, the whole point of having the President as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces is to keep a civilian in charge of the military, a separation of powers so to speak. Besides, I wouldn't exactly call Reagan or W. Bush hardcore war heroes.
2) Picture #5 (I have a nightmare): Parody/satire works best when you actually use a real quote, in order to have a real punchline.
3) Picture #6 (Smash America): It never ceases to amaze me how conservatives manage to link various movements together as partners in crime. Islamo-Communism?
4) Pictures #10-#12: Yes, they are extremely racist. And unimaginative. Just like right wingers. And sadly yes, they do honestly, really think this is what Obama and black people are like. I'm no street wise person, but I guess I take it for granted that people are familiar with other races, sexualities, religions etc., since I grow up in NYC suburbs. I think Freepers really are the stereotypes of the bumpkin living in podunk in a culturally homogenous, small community, that has honestly never met a black person, Muslim, gay person, or in some cases, a Catholic or anyone outside his Pentecostal/Southern Baptist community.
Which in a way, makes it slightly more ironic that they could so hate such people, since they've never actually done personal harm to the Freepers.

Funny thing is, I'm a Catholic so I'm not much into fertility drugs, surrogacy, etc. But I couldn't imagine labeling people who use it, or triply worse, the children born via it unnatural, or demonic, or whatever.

So ice is only natural if it occurs in winter in Vermont and that's when you get your ice skates out of the closet and enjoy ice as God intended. Putting some ice in your sweet tea in the Summer in Mississippi is un-natural.
I understand Freepers don't really get science and that they are afraid of it but it never occurred to me that they are afraid of their own fridge. It not natural!

ReplyDeleteFor your next spotlight, I'd suggest wardaddy or mrsmel. Mrsmel only posts about race, blacks, and um race. She seems a little too Stormfrontish for even FreeRepublic. Wardaddy is a little more subtle, but race is his obsession as well and will accuse fellow freepers of being PC if they don't agree with his conclusion that blacks are inferior animals who should go back to Africa or that there is always a race war a'brewing. He also had a theory that the only good Jews come from non former Soviet countries.
According to Freerepublic, a "race war" has been brewing since the mid-40's.
