Too many voters

New commenter Kate found yet another thread about restricting voting.

We've been here before, but it never hurts to remind ourselves that the voter suppression effect of voter ID laws isn't a bug, it's a feature.

Tailgunner Joe explains the reasoning:
Women elected Barack Hussein Obama.
See, if people vote wrong, they shouldn't vote at all! Now it's just Freepers trying to figure out a good nonracist heuristic to define Democratic voters:

GraceG wants to get rid of all government employees:
They screwed up when they gave anyone but landowners the vote. I would have no problem with a woman or anyone else that owned property having the vote. I would just be happy removing the government leeches from the roles under “confict of interest” rules.

GeorgeWashingtonsGhost makes an exception in his woman bashing:
When political candidates are male and they usually are, females have a tendency to vote with their genitals not their minds. Obama 2008, case and point. There, I said it and I am absolutely NOT talking about the women here at FR. You are intelligent but unfortunately not the typical, 20-something bimbos running amok in America.
central_va wants veterans to get extra rights:
Taxpayers, veterans and landowners should get a weighted ballot. Perhaps veterans given a ballot worth 2X for one example. Everyone should vote but some voters are more important than others. IMO anyway.
EyeGuy has a new twist on an old saying:
They screwed up when they gave anyone but landowners the vote. I would have no problem with a woman or anyone else that owned property having the vote. #### This. No Representation without Taxation.
Freepers on Social Security may have an issue with this.

TheThirdRuffian also neglects everyone over 65.
1. No person on any kind of aid from the govenment (including medicare) can vote. All persons should be able to reject any aid. 2. No employee of the government, excepting soldiers, should be allowed to vote for elections regarding that tier of government. (i.e., federal employees can’t vote in federal elections, and state employees can’t vote in state elections).
Yet another Freeper topic I hope breaks into the mainstream.

  1. Let me get this straight, a bunch old geezers who drool over Sarah Palin are accusing women of "voting with their genitals"?

  2. "Wah, our candidates suck! Therefore only we should be allowed to vote!"

  3. Romney’s denials about homophobic assault are despicable

There is so much wrong with the following that I cannot comment on it.

“the bullying and assaults I had to endure”

As an Army brat I was always the new kid, except at post schools.
Ever try sticking up for yourself Cliff? No?

I think I see the problem. May I push in your stool, looser.

  4. I kind of agree with Kate's earlier comment. FR is just getting hard to read.

  5. They probably meant hard to read in the sense that it's nearly unimaginable that a person could be as full of hate, bile and hypocrisy. "We don't like the way this group of people votes, so we want to take away their right to vote! Democracy!"

Indeed, sometimes this kind of thing saddens me too, but then I remember that the people spewing this nonsense have absolutely no power, and they're doomed to life consumed by anger. The nation, and indeed the world, is becoming more secular and more liberal. Freepers and those like them are doomed to an existence filled with anger and impotence. And that's hilarious.

  6. Or they could have meant it literally. Take this bit of word salad from Free Republic which was quoted in the previous thread.

"This quack in the White House embraces the terrorist mooselimb cult. These people in Washington are nothing but a cluster fluge of feckless crapweamsels."

I tend to think you're right, though, MJO. It's all that hate and fear. That's always been the case but these days Freepers are realizing that the Republican Party has left them behind. Now they feel impotent too.

    And, yes, it is hilarious.

  7. There was also this gem:

"If I had it my way, - The voting age for males would be returned to 21, with the exception of those enlisted in the military, who would be granted the privilege of voting from “age 18 upward”.
    - Single females would be granted the vote when they reached the age of 30. If they married prior to age 30, females would be granted the vote subsequent to their marriage.
    - Women who were serving in the military, married or unmarried, would be given voting privileges identical to males, i.e., “from age 18 upward”, and would carry such privileges subsequent to their military service."

So, a woman's vote is only valid if she's married, in the military, or over 30. Men, however, can vote anytime after 21.

    1. I guess it is no wonder that the Freepers hold no sway with the Republican Party. Let's see someone run on disenfranchising women voters.
