McCain's the nominee, and the natives are restless.

Free Republic is pretty split about McCain. When Bush goes off and endorses him when he won the nominating last night, Freepers get pretty shaken up.

writer33 (The U.S. Constitution defines a conservative and Rush Limbaugh knows it.) has decided this is all about personality.
Must be strange for him to have to endorse the man who has crossed him at every step of the way.

Yep. Cause you know that McCain is enjoying every minute of this. He's been stewing since South Carolina 2000, and now, according to him, G.W. can lick his boots.
farmer18th (Conservatives who vote McCain are like abused dogs who keep licking their master's hand...) thinks he's writing copy for talk radio:
The gentleman’s C endorsing the gentleman’s F. Two palace eunuchs preening for the camera.
ConservativeMind gives the strongest argument against McCain I've seen:

Obama at least wants secure borders. That’s more than McCain’s put forth.

From Obama’s website:

Create Secure Borders
Obama wants to preserve the integrity of our borders. He supports additional personnel, infrastructure and technology on the border and at our ports of entry.

Obama’s more conservative than the Republican in the race when it comes to the border.
Oh, jeez. That's gonna leave a mark.

wpa_mikeb offers some choice fear mongering, though.

A big reason I am supporting John McCain happens to be the 140,000 troops we have in harm’s way.

Not a single one of them had a vote on immigration.

Not a single one of them had a vote on McCain-Feingold.

They were sent there on OUR behalf by those we elected. They DESERVE our total support and there is only one person running for president supporting those troops. There is only one person running for president who wants those troops to achieve victory. Only one.

McCain2008

Vote McCain. For the troops. Cause he'll support them by keeping this war going.
