Mr. Paul goes to Washington

Last night, Rand Paul and some other Republicans did an old style, talking filibuster. After a few weeks of right-wing anti-Brennan histrionics, his confirmation will be a black eye, salved by some nice political razzle-dazzle.

Though choosing to make the whole thing ostensibly about drone strikes in America is a good issue to choose.

UPDATE: I was skeptical/cynical, but This might actually work

Vinnie finds people who agree with him very instructive:
I turned it on and watched 2 hours. Couldn’t put it down.
I really really like Paul. He brought up some very troubling points.
Ted Cruz chimed in and Sen. from Utah and Kansas.
Fascinating and instructive.
thouworm wonders if history will notice this:
Rand Paul is making history today! Will history notice?

He could have read the dictionary, but instead he is requiring of himself to expound on the principles of our Constitution, Bill of Rights, separation of powers, posse comitatus, habeas Corpus, the sloppy bills Congress passes, etc, etc. Now approaching his 4th hour.

By word count, I can’t remember the last time I heard the words “Constitution” and “Republic” repeated so often-— just not repeated, but explained!
SueRae thinks more of this will defeat the liberals:
I am practically doing handsprings in my living room. THIS is exactly what we need. THIS is how you get to know those who represent us. Real questions, real articulation, not soundbites. I am impressed.
MinuteGal finds such intelligence here:
Ah, two intellectuals (Paul and Rubio) playing off each other brilliantly.

They are holding me in thrall.

For those of you in Rio Linda, this means I'm "enslaved" by the intriguing dialogue and the intellectual (but understandable) back-and-forth between these two conservative whizzes.
BTW "For those of you in Rio Linda"

Mr. Jeeves explains away Rand Paul's votes to confirm the hated Kerry and Hagel:
Reject Kerry and Hagel and you would end up getting a couple of think tank Leftists who could do a lot more damage - and would be very difficult for the Senate to reject.

Paul and others probably just figured those two buffoons are too vainglorious and stupid to do any long-term damage - better to just confirm them quickly and move on to more important issues. Brennan, however, is a much more dangerous man - and worth fighting to stop.
Piranha is having none of that - he's more conservative than thou art!
Do you still plan to contribute to Rand Paul now that he made clear that he cares about the drone strike issue and not at all about Brennan’s aggressive support of the Islamofascists around the world? Does it bother you that he said he will drop the filibuster as soon as the White House tells him that it will not kill US citizens who are noncombatants on US soil?
GlockThe Vote has got to see the irony:

And the leftist obama slaves are attacking rand
NeoCaveman:
This is pure undiluted 100% Constitutional goodness.

Go Rand!
blueyon is adorably geeking out:
First Mike Lee and now Ted Cruz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
itssme:
God bless Rand Paul. This man is a true Conservative, a true Patriot....he fights, and cares not if he is the lone voice in the wilderness. Yes, where ARE the OTHER CONSERVATIVES? Why don't they support each other? The other Republicans?? Who in the hell knows. They march to a different drummer, that is rhumy-eyed Boner. That sez it all.
"rhumy-eyed Boner." That is all.
