Venturer has a good test:
No President should ever be elected without military experience. It must be terriblty humiliating for a general who worjked his way to the top ranks to be ordered to report to a Kenyan who hates America.Civilian control of the military is awful! Military control of the government is totally the way to keep America from becoming a Banana Republic!
Marysecretary totally talks to liberals:
Because they hate the military. But secretly. They never say it, but I know they think it cause they won't bomb Iran. Also gays.
Speaking of gay, o_zarkman44
Because they primarily lead liberated women and sissy men rather than warriors.I am Richard Brandon provides us with a field of strawmen!
fso301 has an interesting view of history:1. Because they are pacifists.
2. Because they are utopians
3. Because they do not trust the military
4. Because they have no military experience
5. Because they secretly sympathise with the enemy
6. Because they are academics with little real world experience
Gen MacArthur had a plan for North Korea that would have prevented many present day problemsWorld War 3 would have totally been awesome!
lgjhn23
Because they are commanding those that believe in: “Duty, Honor and Country”. Things that they hate and/or cannot fathom. It is hard to command those that march to the beat of a different drum.Wow, if I thought liberals were like these Freepers do, I'd totally be a freeper! The key is to pretend that any counterexample is propaganda from the liberal media.
So according to Venturer, John Kerry would have made an awesome president!
ReplyDeleteTo euphgeek,
ReplyDeleteYou mean John "I love North Vietnam" Kerry? No, he would have sucked, big time. Does that answer your question.
No, because John Kerry never said he loved North Vietnam.
ReplyDeleteDude,
ReplyDeleteDo not take everything so literally, John Kerry opposed the war and threw his medals into the Capitol. Essentially, John "Hanoi" Kerry was for ending the war and throwing South Vietnam under the commie bus. Thats what I mean. You know, the whole actions speak louder than words thingy....
But that doesn't matter, see? Because the only prerequisite Venturer had was military experience. Who cares about South Vietnam? It's not the U.S., after all. Just pull out and let the free market decide what should happen to them, right? And we ended up pulling out of South Vietnam anyway, and under a Republican president, no less! So Kerry would have made at least as good a president as Nixon.
ReplyDeleteBut that doesn't matter, see? Because the only prerequisite Venturer had was military experience.
ReplyDelete"Military experience" means experience in winning a war not supporting the enemy like Kerry.
Who cares about South Vietnam? It's not the U.S., after all. Just pull out and let the free market decide what should happen to them, right?
WTF are you talking about? Free market? This is a war and the free market applies to the economy not military. Boy, libs are retarded.
And we ended up pulling out of South Vietnam anyway, and under a Republican president, no less!
Thanks in no-small part to anti-war closet commies like Kerry and his dem pals.
So Kerry would have made at least as good a president as Nixon.
And Nixon sucked bad. Thanks for admitting that Kerry would have been a disaster.
This is a pretty silly argument. Freepers certainly have divorced Kerry's military experience from 'real' military experience in their mind. No true Scotsman strikes again!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, while military experience is clearly necessary to Venturer, it may not be sufficient. In other words, even if Kerry (or Murtha or Cleland) has military experience, that only gets him in the door.
Of course, in actuality military experience has nothing to do with knowing how to be a Commander in Chief. As litmus tests go, it's identical to a religious test.
Freepers like both - they see them as a proxy for being Republican. Christian military man? Well, he's gotta have all my crazy ideals!
Oh, Anon, always siding with the Commies! :-P
ReplyDelete"'Military experience' means experience in winning a war not supporting the enemy like Kerry."
ReplyDeleteRemind me again which war John McCain won? Or George W. Bush?
"WTF are you talking about? Free market? This is a war and the free market applies to the economy not military. Boy, libs are retarded."
The free market ran the war with Iraq. Remember Halliburton? Blackwater? And those turned out just superb, wouldn't you agree?
"Thanks in no-small part to anti-war closet commies like Kerry and his dem pals."
Oh, it must have been my imagination that Nixon ran on a platform of ending the war. My bad.
"And Nixon sucked bad. Thanks for admitting that Kerry would have been a disaster."
No, if it hadn't been for Watergate, Dan Rather and the rest of the liberal media, Nixon would have been hailed as one of the best presidents of all time!
Whoa. I think that to most Freepers, that totally makes you a commie, just like everyone in Maine is a traitor today.
ReplyDeletei actually tried posting there once, i was banned in less than three hours !
ReplyDeleteRemind me Remind me again which war John McCain won? Or George W. Bush
ReplyDeleteA little war called Iraq, remember? Now that Iraq is peaceful and has a functioning democracy, the libs and their pals in the MSM have conviniently forgotten that. Iraq stopped making front page news after Fall 2006 , after the surge called by GWB and McCain was a success (opposed by the Great O and the rest of the DNC).
The free market ran the war with Iraq. Remember Halliburton? Blackwater? And those turned out just superb, wouldn't you agree?
Calling a bunch of no-bid contracts to Iraq "free-market" just underscores your basic ignorance on economics. Besides, again free market principles should be applied to economics, not to wars. Wars are almost always conducted by nation states. Even Iraq was started by the US President with powers granted to him by the US Congress and not Hallliburton or Blackwater. But then why get facts in the way of a good rant, wouldn't you agree?
Oh, it must have been my imagination that Nixon ran on a platform of ending the war. My bad.
Nixon was a horrible president. Didn't you read my previous post (Post #5?)
No, if it hadn't been for Watergate, Dan Rather and the rest of the liberal media, Nixon would have been hailed as one of the best presidents of all time!
And once again, let me say this again so that it sinks in. NIXON WAS PATHETIC. He was Republican, but unlike the libs I do not hesitate to criticize Republicans when it is warranted.
"A little war called Iraq, remember?"
ReplyDeleteBut George W. Bush didn't even fight the Iraq war until after he won the presidency. Therefore, according to Venturer's standards, he was unqualified when he first ran.
"Calling a bunch of no-bid contracts to Iraq 'free-market' just underscores your basic ignorance on economics."
But the U.S. military is government run and can never be as good as a privately run, free market option!
"Nixon was a horrible president."
Nixon was teh gratest president evar! It was just the librul media that made him look bad! Don't slander a grate president!!!111one1
But George W. Bush didn't even fight the Iraq war until after he won the presidency. Therefore, according to Venturer's standards, he was unqualified when he first ran.
ReplyDeleteIn 2000, Gore did not have any military experience either. In 2004, Bush was a way better choice than Kerry.
But the U.S. military is government run and can never be as good as a privately run, free market option!
Nobody ever said that the free market is a panacea for all ills. There are some sectors where govt. intervention and regulation is required. For example, transportation, defense and finance. If govt. run enterprises were as good as private enterprise the USSR would have won the Cold War. Besides, Abu Ghraib and My Lai were committed by govt. run US army.
Nixon was teh gratest president evar! It was just the librul media that made him look bad! Don't slander a grate president!!!111one1
Are you a freeper troll?
"In 2000, Gore did not have any military experience either."
ReplyDeleteRight, so neither one would have been qualified according to Venturer.
"In 2004, Bush was a way better choice than Kerry."
Not according to Venturer. Bush still hadn't had any military experience other than being president and being in the National Guard where he saw no fighting.
"Nobody ever said that the free market is a panacea for all ills."
I did! The free market is the greatest!! It will save our souls and get us free health care!!! Death to socialism!!!!11one!
"Are you a freeper troll?"
No! I rilly and truly believe that Nixon was teh best president evar!! I swear!!!
Right, so neither one would have been qualified according to Venturer.
ReplyDeleteLook, frankly FR is a far right cesspit, and I am no fan of the FRetards. That does not mean that I am a flaming lib either. Gore IMHO would have been a decent POTUS (Bush was still, I think the better choice), till he went all out for that Globull Warming thingy.
I did! The free market is the greatest!! It will save our souls and get us free health care!!! Death to socialism!!!!11one!
But of course, govt. run health care is "free" and free market sucks and government rocks, which is why everyone is running to Cuba for treatment, wait a minute....
No! I rilly and truly believe that Nixon was teh best president evar!! I swear!!!
Hmpf, can we stop on the Nixon bashing already? I think we are in agreement that he sucked big time. I don't see what you are getting so worked up about.
My only point here was that according to Venturer's standards, John Kerry would have made a better president that George W. Bush. It doesn't matter what your opinion of either Kerry or Bush is. But I have been having fun mocking certain right-wing beliefs here, too.
ReplyDeleteHey, if you want a sane right-wing blog you can try Little Green Footballs. I lurk there occasionally, only to remind myself that there are reasonable people on the right.
To euphgeek,
ReplyDeleteYeah I am a poster there and I like LGF. But hey Freeper madness is fun too,LOL. Yeah, for the left HuffPo is good, sorta like the LGF of the left.
So you're a Lizardoid, huh? Awesome. Well, keep the faith. We on the left had to deal with our nuts after 9/11 and hopefully the nuts on the right will settle down after a while, too. Then we can get down to some reasonable and honest debate.
ReplyDeletewhich well known blog or forum would you two consider the most far right and which one the most far left ?
ReplyDeleteProbably FreeRepublic (right) and Democratic Underground (left).
