Raising Taxes is a mental disorder

hehe. Freepers respond to Obama's (political, as he knows the House won't pass anything till after the election) proposal to raise taxes on the rich.

WOSG thinks Obama is handling this secret depression badly:

Barack Hoover Obama.
Tax hikes during a depression? This guy is nuts!

Musketeer agrees that to go against Freepers know you're crazy:

Obama is INSANE.
Barak INSANE Obama.
Don't doubt this.

Dubya-M-DeesWent2SyriaStupid! knows the Dems are planning to jettison this madman:

He is insane. He is way out of control.

Watch the democrats put Bayh in to challenge Obama. He was out on the poli talk show circuit.

MichaelCorleone thinks the only way to stop poverty is the church!

Back when the Constitution meant something, it was the Church that rode in to help those who could not help themselves and/or who were down on their luck.

Poverty is largely a spiritual issue, and it usually cannot be corrected simply with social programs and money.

EBH doesn't understand what 'representation' means in a republic.

What part of NO, does he not understand?
What part of FAIL, does he not understand?
What part of I WON’T CONTRIBUTE, does he not understand?
Taxation without representation.

  1. Thrill us with your acumen and tell us all why raising taxes on the rich will help bail out the national debt which Obama doubled with his failed stimulus package?

  2. Taxes go into the national treasury. Raising taxes means more money into the treasury, and thus less debt.

I suppose I'd better note that Obama in not balancing the budget, he's lowering the debt some. And he has cuts as well - he's not diong this all on the backs of rich people.

And as for the stimulus, the fact that it wasn't a cure does not mean it didn't help, your ipse dixit notwithstanding.

Finally, I'm skeptical that the debt is a problem, or at least that it's a crisis that needs to be solved now.

  3. There's no ipse dixit, it is well proven and Obama will have to face it during his campaign, so he had better be prepared to take the heat on his doubling of the debt.... I am afraid that your answer may suggest that your grasp of economics is tenuous at best... well at least I know now what I am dealing with .....wow ...very interesting .......I hate to say but Debt is the problem and spending is what got us here... but you are likely too close to Obama to actually see it. I would love to head on debate this with you one day....

  4. Heh. Like economicsts can prove anything. I agree with Hayek that much.

There is certainly no consensus on the stimulus' effct.

I'm aware my debt dovishness is rare, but listen - National debt is not like a credit card. Sure it's a problem, but is it an immediate crisis? What current effects does it have?

Employment is a crisis, on the other hand, and is what we should be addressing now.

And I had this opinion when Bus was in office and Cheney talked about it, so it's not an Obama thing.

  5. Exactly. When Cheney said "deficits don't matter" the RWNJs were all in agreement. But now that there's a Democrat in office, they've suddenly become these fiscal hawks. Which, of course, they'll promptly throw out the window as soon as the next Republican becomes president.
