Always affirmative action

A fifteen-year-old boy was in need of a heart. But he had truancy issues and juvenile record, so he was put off. Eventually, matters came to a head and he got the heart. Freepers, absent any evidence, are convinced he would have been allowed to die were he not black.

from occupied ga has a theory...
I have no problem blacks getting organs

Neither do I. I do have a HUGE problem with an inappropriate person getting on the list and going to the head of the list SOLELY because the entitlement set (99.99999% of the time mouthy "poor" blacks) brays loudly enough.
mouthy?

from occupied gav also rolls even less subtly:
Another black maumaued onto the transplant list. This article doesn't mentionwhat kid is going to DIE because this less than sterling example of humanity is going to get the heart. He was initially turned down for a reason, but the hospital transplan committe decided it was better to let a more deserving kid die than put up with the pressure from the mouthy minority entitlement crowd and their allies in the MSM.

truancy issues and his juvenile record. Another Treyvon in the making. Bet we don't get the followup story when this future banger needs another heart because he didn't take his anti-rejection medicine.

I'm waiting also for the news to report on who died becasue this young Treyvon got a heart and some other kid didn't
Another black? Like this happens all the time.

Gaffer knows anyone who gets ahead in anything these days is definitely black:
This was the first time I read anything about it before I got to a name, etc. I realized going from nowhere to 1st on the list meant this kid is black. He got a Trayvon white-guilt pass to the head of the line.

So, we now see that other matters irrespective of true fairness will be operative in the Obama Care miasma. If you’re black and can make a big stink, you’re home free - carte blanche, anything you need, at little or no cost to you. Blacks’ hypocrisy on sh!t like this is unlimited. Yeah...call me racist. I don’t care. That crap don’t play no more.
Mercat doesn't care he's black, but does wonder about drugs...
I have no concern about his skin color. I want to know why his heart is shredded to begin with. If its drug use, Lean or something like that, then it seems he’s a bad risk.
bgill is also suspicious this kid took good care of his heart, being black and all...
Exactly. What is the diagnosis for the heart problem and how long has he had it? If he's had the problem for years, then how the heck was he well enough to have a juvy record? Or was the problem caused by drugs, a stabbing, a fight, etc. due to his own behavior? Wonder who called the board to make them move him into the #1 spot.
newzjunkey just hates all transplants if ungrateful black children get them!
It seems unlikely he'll appreciate what a new heart means. I'd be content if we did away with transplants entirely. You get what you came in with, for better or worse, and nothing else. I used to be an organ donor but no more.
catnipman is convinced only black thugs get hearts now:
Basically, we’re seeing Obamacare already kick in with the predicted favoritism towards favored minorities and members of favored political parties. Want a new heart and you’re not a poor black inner city yute, well, you damn well register Democrat and donate some big bucks to the right Democrat campaigns.
oh8eleven knows all about this kid, somehow:
He'll be dead within in a year from either gang violence or failure to follow post-surgery instructions.
His family will then whine & wail that he was a good kid, an aspiring rapper studying for his GED and his demise was whitey's fault.

Man. There seems to be virtually nothing that FReepers are unwilling to forfeit, as long as doing so will ensure that blacks can't have it either.

This sucks let's talk about this instead.

  2. It's easy to believe that "freepers" are an isolated group of arch conservative nuts,
but in reality the vast majority of self-described conservatives feel this same way.

They don't consider "conservatism" as a political philosophy, just as a group identity to complain about their supposed victimization.

    1. Expand? You got me curious now. Not about the victimization - that shows pretty much every thread - but the philosophy bit.

    2. In that, especially for working class "conservatives", they are more than supporive of the many "progressive" work place reforms demanded and won by unions in the 1930s, 40s, 50s, and 60s in the USA.

Not especially fervent in their own religious practice, they theoretically enjoy the idea of public religion as a "unifying" cultural force, as long as it doesn't interfere with their own personal desires.

When "conservatives" say they are "against abortion", what they really mean is that they yearn for the days past when almost any middle class or upper class girl anywhere across the country could go to certain doctors in any town to have a "cyst removed".

While most "conservatives" are not racist in a true vicious sense, most "conservatives" would like a return to the days when there was a "black" section of town and the races did live separate lives for the most part.

So, the last thing the vast majority of today's "conservatives" want is REAL conservatism thrust upon them.

    3. Thank you for your both kind and informed response. Food for thought indeed.

Off the top of my head, there is nothing I can disagree with in what you said. Might dispute the usefulness of Unions now, given their lobbying and funding power which seems to be used more for personal gain than good, but certainly not in the past, when they most definitely were needed.

    4. I agree with you re: unions.
Frankly, for the most part, they have shot themselves in their collective feet.
After many of the "big" issues were won, and became law, union leadership became corrupt.

    5. That implies that you're somehow just fine with management being corrupt, without organized workers getting in the way.

    6. On the contrary,
my problem is with the various unions' leaderships becoming lazy, if not corrupt since the 1950s.

Auto workers, while well paid, have achieved almost no real gains for decades, while UAW officers are very very VERY well paid.

Same for the ever shrinking number of steel/aluminum workers.

The Teamsters and AFL-CIO have not had anything resembling fair leadership elections for decades.

The unions for other trades (carpenters, electricians, plumbers) are very weak outside a few cities and industries.

The fact is, most workers are at least ambivalent if not hostile to joining unions ... and much of the blame for that can be placed upon the unions themselves.

  3. Ozy....you should juxtapose this thread with their responses about the little white girl that received the lung transplants. That's right..not just one but TWO transplants.
