That thread is one of the few that have ever elicited any compassion from me toward freepers. I actually think the few who are picking on the recovering addicts are the real jerks here.

So, Bush reputedly (via anonymous sources) tried some shit when he was a kid. Big deal. Who didn't in the late 60's / early 70's? And, as an alcoholic myself I am not going to knock a guy who has been 25 years sober. They don't even make a chip for that.

You are going to be hard pressed to find anyone who hasn't at least tried coke and weed out. Drunk under age. Snuck the odd cigarette under age too.
It's one of the (very) few things I give Obama credit for. He straight up admitted it in his autobiography. He smoked, he did lines, he drank.
Who cares. Now, if either of them were drunk or high as a fucking kite while sitting in the Oval office, that would be a wee bit different for me.
Maybe you're not listening to what I'm saying: I personally don't care, either. But Freepers care. A lot. I wish I had a nickel for every time they use the words "choom" or "choom gang." Selective outrage is what they're all about.
