There is something of an apocalyptic cult in Free Republic. At some point, the paranoid need to make everything into a crisis turned from a political ploy into an addiction. Or maybe I have the causality backwards, and folks who already like to contemplate the world ending end up in fringe politics. I remember Drudge was 24-7 on Hurricane Katrina even before it made landfall. And now he's wall-to-wall Ebola, as is much of the rest of the right wing blogosphere.

Already having a tendency to declare the world is ending, the recent Ebola outbreak allows Freepers to harness their distrust of science, the government, and the media to make up their own scenarios based on scanty evidence derived entirely from wishful Internet sleuthing from places like "The Conservative Treehouse" which has decided Ebola is now airborne.

I think there is no knowing for sure. Despite the naysayers there is something different about this outbreak as always before they burned themselves out and the death toll hit a quick peak and then dropped. I ask all do you think that any thing the ‘authorities’ they choose to tell you will be the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

If there is an outbreak here, the MSM will suppress information about it. It gets in the way of the “Open Borders” narrative.

The administration seems to want us to accept Ebola like AIDs; that is, it’s not communicable unless you *cornhole* someone suffering from Ebola or share a needle with him.

But I think most of us probably think Ebola to be more contagious than AIDs, and it’s certainly more lethal.
