But for now, all you get is this weak sauce:
I want the USA back doesn't think much past killing bad guys.
Wiping out the bearded savages is the only option.Graewoulf's paranoia is amazing. This is just another example of all the bad-guys working together behind the scenes!
Meanwhile, Obama will be closely monitoring the situation and gathering all the facts to make sure that this never happens again.Sarah Barracuda goes with the usual "I telepathically know Obama's only doing this to look good, so it doesn't count"
When the Muslim Brotherhood and the Democrat Brotherhood work together with Putin, ANYTHING is possible!
Obama’s main concern is to show people he isn’t much of a douche even though everyone knows that he is a giant douche bag..he thinks by going on TV and wagging his little finger that everyone will swoon over him..he doesn’t get that only the media swoons over his stupid ass
Sarah Barracuda also blames Obama for not thinking less before going back into Iraq.
ISIS has already kidnapped hundreds of Yazidi women after slaughtering their husbands..Obama waited too long, what else is knew..he always waits too damn long..this is all on HIS head, he made this happenKackikat unironically objects to how Obama doesn't learn from history.
Yes, and hindsight is always 20/20. The problem here being this Admin never looks backward for perspective.Outta nowhere. Kackikat - BENGHAZI!
Benghazi disaster allowed 400 surface to air missiles be stolen there by terrorists.....where are they now? We have yet to find out what Benghazi was really all about.Resolute Conservative worries Obama has made our military too weak to function.
What army do we send? Our has had many line officers driven out by Bammy and most combat vets are out now.Little Ray worries Obama doesn't have legal authority.
Not that I mind member of ISIS dying or anything (actually, I strongly approve of that), but exactly where did Obama get authorization to launch those air strikes?Protect the Bill of Rights is eager for another angle with which to blame Obama!
Also, where are we getting targeting info?
And who, if anyone, is following up and exploiting these strikes?
Obama’s War now.
Resolute Conservative has a point.
ReplyDeleteYou are shedding cadre at a huge rate right now. The usual retention rate is about 30%, give or take. The other 70% do their time then back flip out the gates from sheer joy, and good on them.
The ones that stay are vital though. The military is like any other huge organization, you need a guide to navigate you through the reefs of paperwork and arbitrary command decisions. When your retention rate drops below 20% - you got a problem.
Do you have any source for the low retention rate in our military? According to the DoD website, most retention goals are being met or exceeded.
DeleteJust rumor, I'm afraid. I know how that goes on the internet, but it's a concern.
DeleteThey shifted the goal posts. Base officers are being retained. Combat officers are not. Same with NCO's. Ones who sat in a comfortable supply base are kept over ones who were on the pointy end of the stick.
It makes me worry. I've never been one who bigs up the USA as the world's policeman, I mean, who needs that shit. But it were reassuring, you know?
The thought that they shifted the goalposts entered my mind as a possibility, but I couldn't find any evidence of that.
DeleteAnyway, I don't think you have to worry about the U.S. military not being the world's police. We've got a long way to go before we step down as the number one superpower in the world. I don't think it will happen in either of our lifetimes. But if you look at history, any time one country loses their status as the world's number one superpower, another country takes its place.
I know that historically you are correct. Power hates a vacuum even more than a dog does.
DeleteYet I am nervous. The last 4 super powers have been Rome, France, the UK and the USA. With various caveats, all of whom were wedded to the ideal of individual liberty and who share a common lineage. Who's up next worries me a lot. Still, like you say, not likely to happen in my life time.
Probably fussing over nothing - like you said, it isn't going to happen in my life time or possibly yours. Yet it bugs me. I have kids, grandkids and probably, before I check out, great grandkids. I trust the US. Even with the Worm in charge, most Americans are totally freaking awesome.. Who else is there to trust?
Worrying over things you have no control over is often an exercise in futility. So the next superpower might not be white Europeans. Who's to say that's a bad thing? And if the new superpower does turn out to be a country that doesn't have the world's best interests at heart, we'll survive. If I remember my history, Rome wasn't exactly all hugs and rainbows. Even the U.S. has its faults when it disregards the well-being of other nations to pursue its own selfish goals. But the world keeps turning and people go on with their lives. I'd rather worry about things that are within my own power to do. The rest will work itself out eventually.
DeleteMy condolences for the loss of your friend. Hope you feel better soon.
DeleteThanks mate. You get older - it happens more often. Still, you never get used to it.
