Scott Walker

I'm not one of those liberals who thinks that merely by wanting to shrink government and entitlements makes you a bad person. But I really don't like Walker. Not because he's an anti-union conservative, but because of how he goes about enacting his preferred policies. He seems spiteful. More than that, he seems to really think that liberals are actually bad people, and deserve bad things to happen to them.

And I also think he's one of the two most likely candidates for the GOP. He's crazy enough for the base, can appear moderate enough for the pragmatic Republicans, and the business folks love him since he hates unions.

His two problems are 1) he's remarkably uncharismatic, and 2) he was actually a governor, so he has a record of doing things in the real world. That means compromises.

So some Freepers are skeptical of Walker, because he doesn't hate immigration enough. Others are fully bought in. Freepers are not fans of diversity of point of view. So they fight. And it's as hilarious and petty and trollish as the Internet can get.

DoughtyOne leads the skeptical forces, and his angry persistence means he's well represented in this post.
What bothers me isn’t that he’ll listen. Hey, it’s great he’ll listen.

Illegal immigration has been raging since 2000. Until a few weeks ago, Scott Walker hadn’t listened at all. It took him fifteen freakin’ years to figure out that he needed to get with it on this issue, and formulate a policy that wouldn’t make him look like a horses ass when he ran.

NOW, he’s supposedly the best Conservative out there.

He had John McCain’s immigration policy a few months ago. He was willing to let them remain in place. He was willing to let them continue to work. Certainly he had to know that policy would see them transition.
Cincinatus' Wife posts Walker's recent press releases:
January 3, 2011 - Walker assumes Office of Governor of Wisconsin.

June 27, 2011: Walker Revokes In-state Tuition For Undocumented Students Attending Univ And Colleges In Wisconsin "- On Sunday, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R) signed his two-year 2011-2013 budget, which included ending in-state tuition for undocumented students attending public universities and colleges. In-state tuition for undocumented students was approved two years ago by former Governor Jim Doyle (D) after the Hispanic community struggled for 10 years to pass it."...

March 2015:“We strongly dispute this account. Governor Walker has been very clear that he does not support amnesty and believes that border security must be established and the rule of law must be followed. His position has not changed, he does not support citizenship for illegal immigrants, and this story line is false,” she announced in an email to journalists Thursday afternoon.”

“I made it clear that for me, if somebody wants to be a citizen, they need to go back to their country of origin, get in line, no preferential treatment,” Walker said. “In terms of what to do beyond that, again, that’s something we got to work with Congress on.”
DoughtyOne's comments get rather...pointed.
Well CW, your out here flogging another loser. What’s it feel like to pull this routine every four years?

You now trust a man that until recently said he wouldn’t send them back home, but didn’t want them to get citizenship either. Hello, is this John McCain/Ted Kennedy or is it Scott Walker?

You do realize that isn’t compatible don’t you? If you don’t, why are you trying to inform others?

His comments in the last few weeks have been different. Walker now realizes that there’s a serious immigration issue, and he’s come up with a new plan.

This has been a raging issue since 2000. Walker just figured it out fifteen years later. He now thinks they need to go back home and get in line.

So do I. I have since 1990. I wasn’t running for office when I figure it out.
max americana is eager to prove his high standards as well:
NOW, he’s supposedly the best Conservative out there.

Of course he is. How dare you speak ill of the man. Conservatives attend fag wedding receptions, right?
HiTech RedNeck is only one of a number of pro-Walker posters. But he is the craziest:
Devil: BWAHAHAHAHAHA I HAVE MADE THE PERFECT THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD!
DoughtyOne sticks to his one talking point:
It’s now a simple mud fight to mention that Scott Walker’s immigration stance was essentially the McCain/Kennedy policy until recently? Really?
Democrat_media is always a fan of spite, so naturally he likes Walker:
Walker has done nothing to help illegal immigrants nor immigrants. so some poster is just trying to smear Scott Walker who has passed more pro American and conservative laws than ANYONE. Walker’s record shows who he is and that he does what he says he will do. Walker’s record shows he is Pro American and that is to be trusted to do what he said he will do and now he says that he will reduce legal immigration something that no one else is saying. some of these posters want us to think that Walker is an anti American liar that will put foreigners over Americans. I believe Walker not these propaganda artists.
DoughtyOne clearly loves a good fight, and really perks up when someone invokes Alinsky:
Wow, you are really getting desperate aren’t you.

Did Scott Walker want to send illegal back home last year? No.

Did Scott Walker demand they not be able to work last year? No.

Did he favor them being able to get in the back of the line here and not in their nation of origin? Yes

Now, what is that if not the McCain/Kennedy policy?

And I’m Alinsky?

CW, you’ve got that reversed.
HiTech RedNeck continues to rant about Satan:
Dough Nut’s “clarification” is the same as Satan’s: “Transgressions are forever.”
TADSLOS endorses whoever the Chamber of Commerce doesn't like:
We see this every election cycle. The crony capitalist business lobby and chamber of commerce shills show up to push their bought and paid for mannequin all dressed up as a pure bred conservative.
Nextrush is also on the anti-business populist bandwagon:
Walker is not clear and precise on key issues like the 100 percent repeal of every word of Obamacare....The litmus test of Walker’s immigration position will come when the Chamber of Commerce crowd gives thumbs up or down.

I’ve already heard this phrase “Walker is acceptable to the Establishment” and that certainly tells me something.
HiTech RedNeck on the anti-Walker forces:
Why, yes you are an enemy of God.
Georgia Girl 2's high standards lead her to only one candidate:
Well the person who is the strongest by far on immigration is Donald Trump so you should hope he gets in the race. Personally I hope he does. At least he will keep the rest of them honest.

IMO every GOP candidate if elected will push for immigration reform that lets a good portion or all of the 11 million stay. Its going to be up to the people to pressure Congress not to do it.

LOLOL, we know liberals are so open-minded and charitable and tolerant and it is those eeeevil conservatives who are spiteful. You really need to get out of the house more Ozy,

Walker is good. Government unions do not compromise, so a tough stand like Walker's is necessary and as you pointed out he has a good track record of doing things in the real world, and is not a crazy wingnut loon or a warmongering neocon sellout.

    1. Yeah, being an asshole is not limited by party. There are certainly asshole liberals. Ed Shultz is the biggest one I can think of. Probably Harry Reid as well.

I rather agree with you that unions are super zealous. That's their job, but it also means they select for jerks in their leadership.
But the government is not management - they are not wholly adversarial to unions. Therefore, a full court press against them is partisan.

But more importantly, Walker doesn't just go all out against the unions, he will spend effort just to be a jerk.

He's also one of the few national figures to call it the "Democrat" party. He's all about the petty, petty BS. Even if some liberals are also jerks doesn't mean it's OK when he does it.

    2. That's the Two Wrongs Make a Right Fallacy. Wikipedia has a good, easy read on the subject.

It's the sort of argument made by dumb bunnies.

  2. DoughtyOne thinks illegal immigration has been "Raging" since 2000? Hate to break it to ya, but it's been raging for a lot longer than that.... And your freeper saint, Ronnie Raygun gave a bunch of "illegals" amnesty. I guess freepers don't like to acknowledge that.

“Daniel Zurita Jr.” Is it a bad thing that I (correctly) guessed the shooter was hispanic even before reading the article? All I read was the headline and I knew.
Same here...I knew the unhinged nut was a messkin by the name even before watching the video. They're hot-tempered people, invariably quick to anger. Even Desi Arnaz acknowledged this long ago in an "I Love Lucy" episode.
