Freepers have issues with bullying:
A brief thread on bullying brought many Freepers' anecdotes of how they were picked on, but never backed down and soon ruled the school:
OldBullrider wants you to know he never backed down.
I was bullied, once, the other kid was just trying to see if I would back down. New in the school even though I had lived in the area 5 years earlier. I am not big nor do I consider myself to be a tough guy, but I don’t back down from anyone, if I have done nothing wrong.Cicero knows bullies are all about respect:
Cicero follows up by discussing all the fights he's won:My experience was that if you kept a sense of honor and refused to allow people to insult you, it really didn’t matter if you won or lost the fights. What bullies don’t respect, and like to beat up on, are people who cringe and allow themselves to be insulted.
I was the smallest kid in my class all through school. I remember someone saying, puzzled but kind of admiringly, “Why do you play football, when you always end up on the bottom of the pile?” I don’t remember what I replied. Probably, “That’s life,” or something of the sort.
Nitehawk0325 totally took out 6 football players! When I was in second grade, there was a bully who went around picking on kids during recess. One day, he started on me, and wouldn't stop. So I finally punched him in the stomach and knocked him down. He never bothered me again.
In prep school, there was a bully who came into my room with a bunch of guys and started calling me names. I finally punched him in the stomach. But this time the bully was tougher. He punched me back in the eye, and knocked me out for a couple of minutes. But evidently my taking him on was enough, because he didn't bother me again.
When some of the teachers asked me why I had a black eye, I gave them the usual excuse, since it was NEVER done to rat on anybody. I told them I ran into a doorknob by accident.
When I was a kid, I was a big kid. Every coach wanted me to play for their team. I had no interest in playing sports. I had chores that needed to be done (I worked on the family dairy) and then I had homework. I had no time for such nonsense games as football or basketball. But this didn't seem to stop the coaches from telling their players to ‘convince’ me to play. I was jumped and beat up a number of times in high school. Finally, in senior year, I cracked. When the football team decided it was time to give me an attitude adjustment, I surprised them by protecting myself. Out of the 8 jumpers, I laid out 6 and send one to the hospital with a broken jaw and various other broken bones.Vendome knows beating the crap out of people isn't just for schoolkids!
What happened, I got suspended and nothing happened to the football players. But that three day suspension was well worth it. No one ever bother me again. As a matter of fact, they have me extra space when passing me in the hallways.
discostu was never a teenager:I had my share of fights in school but I think mostly due to people misjudged that I would cower or back down.
Never did. Not genetically disposed for it and they paid for their dumb decision.
Last guy that tried it was 6 years ago. After punching square in the nose and lips I had a violent, allergic reaction.
He lost two teeth and had to go to some specialist to save them.
He’s been rather passive since then, after years of misjudged my tolerance for idiotic attempts to lord himself over me.
I think he thought he got something in his head to finally best me at something , anything and with the courage of a few drinks in him he nailed me clear out of the blue.
He’ll never make that mistake again.
While it’s tragic and horrible when kids kill themselves let’s face it, anybody that commits suicide because people were mean to them wasn’t going to last in this world.Leaning Right blames those Feminists for coddling bullies!
Life throws a lot of nasty stuff at us, stuff that makes teenage bullying seem like a vacation, burying parents, dumped by SOs, fired from jobs, natural disaster, friends with terminal cancer.
Needless to say, this is the opposite of Freeper conventional wisdom. I'm amazed Freepers can take both sides of an issue, but still manage to be crazy and wrong on both sides. At one time, bullies were expelled. If the bully's parents didn't like it, too bad! If the bully's community organizers didn't like it, too bad! Those old-time school administrators were tough. Many were military veterans.
Then came the feminist bureaucrats. Fancy PhD's, no real-world experience. No more expulsions. Instead, let's all form a circle with our chairs and share our feelings.
I'm not one for federal intrusion into local schools. But I'd support a federal law that required every school to have a retired Marine Corps sergeant as Dean of Students.
Mr. Jeeves brings in the inevitable "bullies are all liberals" tract.
My observation is that bullies generally grow up to be labor leaders, Democrat politicians, and CEO's. Sociopaths, in other words. Refusal to let the good kids hit back since the 70's has led directly to a lot of societal dysfunction.
I like this thread.

It's tempting to generalize. OK, how about this? Freepers have problems with women.
I'm sure all these stores are totally true and not at all made up. Freepers are honest like that.
