ReplyDeleteThis tells you two things: 1) Freepers view everything in political terms. Decency is not done for decency's sake. 2) They are willfully ignorant, because a read of ANY Freeper thread shows that insults are ALL Freepers do, all day and all night.
The coup de grace is when they actually bring up their own Christian self-righteousness before they say in a "polite, non-Democrat" way, "Yep, I'm glad the sonofabitch is rotting in hell."
One other question on my mind is, what exactly is inspiring this vitriol against Wallace? I know we're dealing with Freepers here, but I never got the idea that Wallace was the equivalent of say, Keith Olbermann.

PS - I did hear something about Wallace way back talking about remaining a neutral reporter in a hypothetical war situation in which he saw a potential ambush of American troops. Freepers of course took that as him saying (and yes, they use quotation marks) "I want the troops to die."
Of course, people with two synapses to bang together realize that Wallace is giving his opinion on long time journalistic standards to report the news, not create it. Besides, it was sort of a dumb hypothetical. Like, when would Mike Wallace be an embedded reporter with the North Vietnamese Army, which was the actual example used.
