Secession fever Potpourri

The multitude of secession threads are a tricky business. Freepers's enthusiasm for their latest empowerment fantasy has great potential, but the execution is off. They're either tiresome Civil War 2 wargaming, tiresome legal wrangling over the founders, or tiresome yelling about Lincoln the Tyrant.

Which is why MDaF's suggestion of a potpourri is a good one. Because even in the thinnest of Freeper stews, you can always find the nuggets of crazy!

carlo3b knows these petitions are Serious Business!
Just a note to prove a point.. If it continues, it will be too hard to dismiss out of hand.. This isn't a mere fad, it's a sign of the times, and how much a small thing, like Chick Fil A, turned out overnight.. Check this out..
hinckley buzzard thinks the counter petition to deport all those who signed a secession petition is in no way a joke:
I think anyone who advocates stripping citizenship and exile as a punishment for the lawful exercise of First Amendment rights should be considered a traitor, and shot.
Dead Corpse knows Texas is the real Graveyard of Empires:
Invade Texas militarily? Hows that working for our Military in Afghanistan? You do know that Texas is bigger than Afghanistan... Right? 250k sq/miles vs 268k sq/miles(according to a quick google search).

I'm betting Texas is better armed too.
central_va, of course:
Secession is to the statist thug as the cross is to the vampire. You are showing your fangs. You had better stay out of the light.
ClearCase_guy also loves him some Confederacy:
The South was right about almost everything. I have to say that slavery was a bad institution and I'm glad it is gone -- but there were a lot of political issues under discussion in the pre-civil war era, and the South was right on everything except slavery.

Had I been alive at the time, I would hope that I would have left MA and gone south to fight for the real principles that founded this nation.
ConradofMontferrat has a whole no vocab picked out!
I am no longer a “patriot.” The commie pigs have bastardized the word.

Think of this: I am now a LOYALIST. Loyal to the Constitution that was the root of this miracle known as America.

In the days of revolt from the king, “loyalist” was a term similar to Tory.

Now, I am LOYAL to the Constitution.

I guess that makes me a “Loyalist.”

After being drafted, I Swore An Oath, TO PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION, AGAINST ALL ENEMIES FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC.

I never renounced that oath. Communists are pigs hell bent on the destruction of the Constitution, and our country.

I guess that makes me an extremist.

So be it.

Bring it on MOFOs!
ROCKLOBSTER has found an even more spiteful and ridiculous cause:
I don’t want states to succeed. I want certain counties ejected from the USA.

The deep-blue ones on the coasts.
MrB mixes up being crazy with taking down liberals:
There’s nothing that stirs up a leftist like the proposal of secession.

It makes them so upset because they know it is THE trump card, putting out of reach a group of people whom they want to subjugate.

They also know it would be the end of them and their ideology, because with a stark choice between collectivism and individual freedom, those who can produce will choose freedom, and the unproductive will choose collectivism, causing their system to not only crashed, but to be exposed as unworkable.

  1. That was my thought as well. You are being a patriot when you want to secede (which is illegal according to the very constitution that the Freepers cling to so dearly) yet it's unAmerican and treasonous to want to deport those same citizens who are in favor of the treasonous secession. My head spins just thinking about it.

  2. Freepers are the Republican Party. There are Freepers and Freeper-enablers.

    You decide which is worse.

  3. If a state actually voted to secede, I'd say let them go. I don't think it's worth it to fight (even kill) our own citizens in order to force them to be under federal control.

OTOH, pretty much nobody actually wants to secede, so it's moot.

  4. The Texas armed resistance post really shows that Freepers actually believe their own delusions. Yes, the guy across the street that works in a cubicle and spends his free time watching Homeland and playing X-Box will take up arms to defend against Obama's US Armed Forces.

I hope the Texas Freepers find a good general to plan their defense, because surely all the Hispanics will try to outflank the Freepers from the South in order to reclaim Aztlan from the gringos.
