Ray Bradbury eulogy
edition:
I grew up reading Heinlein, Asimov, and Bradbury.
It just
occurred to me that everybody I know who can say the same thing, and
that includes nearly all of my childhood and high school chums ... they
all grew up to be Conservatives. They also happened to be a core group
in the science clubs, honor roll, and honor society. The simpering
Liberals I remember were not much for reading and certainly not of books
by these three Titans.
Politicizing everything he likes brought to you by

(Just my opinions)
It's possible that a freeper came up with those three names, but I doubt it. A little Google-fu and the first instance of those three names, in that order, comes from.....wait for it.....wait.....N....P.....mo'fo' R! Booyaa

The next time a freeper mindlessly regurgitates FOX News, we're have to remind them how much they love Fahrenheit 451.
Considering that Bradbury was a staunch conservative and Fahrenheit 451 was essentially detailed warnings of the failings of Big Goverment liberalism ...anonymous' comment made me laugh.....
ReplyDeleteInteresting interpretation, especially considering Bradbury himself said that Fahrenheit 451 wasn't about government or censorship at all, but about "how television destroys interest in reading and literature."

"was a staunch conservative and Fahrenheit 451 was essentially detailed warnings of the failings of Big Goverment liberalism" Way to mindlessly regurgitate Fox News.
DeleteBradbury's did become a conservative in the mid 60s, but in 1976 he still voted for Jimmy 'FR loves me' Carter! That doesn't sound like a staunch conservative. Honestly later in life he was pretty outspoken conservative, but really we expect that from all old men.
MJO,
DeleteIt's kind of funny how conservatives think their version of history and literature is the only correct interpretation. Kind of like how Hitler was a lefty because Nazi stands for "National Socialists".
Not to mention how Asimov's technological utopianism was pretty socialist.
ReplyDeleteHere's a good birther thread:

Someone questions the credentials of philman_36 early in the thread and he goes nuts.
