Santorum craziness

I'm pretty interested in how Free Republic is reacting to the latest Santorum surge. When Santorum was behind, Freepers were calling on him to drop out, to better focus the non-Romney vote with Newt. But now that he's ahead, there are suddenly a bunch of Santorum supporters.

The few anti-Santorum folks are really getting shouted down:

No one is talking about Newt.

Earthdweller
accuses Santorum of being a spoiler:

Your vest is working for Romney to split the vote. The vest shocked the GOP-e by doing better than the anointed one Romney but he will be put back in his “place”.

NKP_Vet knows yankees can't win in the GOP:

When Santorum starts winning in the South take him as a serious candidate. It’s not going to happen unless Newt gets out and endorses him, AND campaigns with him. He’s a big spending Yankee republican and big spending Yankee republicans don’t go over well in the Southern US.

Rome2000 also piles on:

He’s a lawyer-Strike One

He voted against right to work (Siding with the unions to force workers to belong and pay dues against their will)-Strike Two

He endorsed Specter over Toomey. Specter switched parties and was a deciding vote in the Senate for Obamcare- Strike Three

Can’t even win reelection in his own state, but thinks he can use Romney supporters money to stay in the race, not realizing they will pull the plug when Gingrich is neutralized (in short, he’s a moron)-Strike four.

I could go on.

Tribune7 calls for no more attacks!

Want me to try to dig up the audio of Newt endorsing Dede Scuzzawhatshername?

If Newt ends up being the best anti-Mitt option, I'm cool with that.

But why do you want to rip down Santorum?
Waryone agrees - only attacking Mitt Romney is allowed:

I suggest you stop working for Mittens. It does not play well here. Post about how Mitt loves gay marriage and gays in the military. Post about how he will protect a woman’s right to murder her baby. Post about how he wants to pick our pockets for his love of mandates.

No posts against conservatives like Santorum or Newt. They fall under the protection of the 11th commandment. But go ahead and slam away at Obama and his little clone Mitt.

Deagle wants balance on Free Republic. And by balance, he means supporting Santorum:
How about some balance here - some negatives against the other candidates? Is this a one sided debate or are you going to provide some balance?

All of our current candidates have limitations. If you have to get down to who is the most Conservative - Santorum, no other choice.

If you have to go with another candidate for other reasons, you are probably not a Conservative anyway.
Kenny is suddenly against name-calling - this is serious!
Santorum is the first candidate I’ve heard lay it on the line about our freedom being at stake in this election.

This is not some high school prom election, calling names like “little Ricky” is childish. It really is all on the line in November. We’d better get in the game before it’s too late.
