U.S. deploying up to 275 troops to Iraq

The troops are for securing US facilities and people. One of our most prolific and esteemed commenters may be among that group.

Freepers yell in outrage, either that there are boots on the ground, or not enough of them, but really just that Obama did a thing.

1Old Pro blames Obama for Iraq, and has some advice:
Obama should go to Iraq and actually wave a White flag as ALL Americans are flown out of the country. He should then resign.
Eleutheria5 - this is a distraction!
Gosh. Has his approval rating moved yet? No? Deploy more troops.
no-to-illegals wants to re-invade.
FUBO ... ten thousand on stand-by and you send 250?.
MaxMax recommends letting the troops shoot whomever they want:
I doubt they will be given bullets or sharp instruments of war either.

If you are going into this SH-hole you do it right, No ROE! And 250 will be laughed at. What an embarrassment from a Community Organizer -n- Chief playing general.

Maybe he'll just send in the Gays to fly the rainbow flag.
Jeff Chandler also hits the military is gay now theme:
He's sending the 69th Transsexual division. They'll be wearing ballet slippers.
Holy crap, combat_boots is making this a race thing somehow.
How many will be White?
a fool in paradise also weirdly brings up race, if you know the Freeper code:
How many of his sons is he sending, seeing as how he already decided to cut and run?
LibsRJerks wants the troops ready to shoot Mexicans:
Only as many troops necessary to pull out of that hellhole and then NO MORE. They had their chance!!

We need our troops HERE, to protect us in the event the border just absolutely breaks like a dam.
CincyRichieRich - Evil Seed.
Treasonous bassturd...1. telling that they’re sending them, and 2. letting them know how many bullets they need, just 275.

Evil seed he is.
JLAGRAYFOX - !!!
Obama lies once again!!! Last Friday, Obama, the serial lie teller, told the American people there would never be any USA troops (boots) on the ground in Iraq....and this evening....he is sending 250 troops to Iraq!!! Enough said!!!
Empireoftheatom48 is suddenly against deploying troops:
Dear God, into the meat grinder. I don’t know who is more of a coward, BO or Bush for not speaking up about this! I think I’m going to stroke out. Damn them all to H_LL! Pray hard for our guys!
Envisioning is also threatening to have a stroke:
No more American blood for Iraq! NONE!

Somebody get rid of this POS before I have a stroke!
Recovering Ex-hippie wants no military, if Obama's running it.
DESERT GUYS!

DON’T GO!!

I can’t imagine any court martials on them in THIS situation.

  1. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Republican Party. Here they are in all their glory.

  2. FR transcends the label of Republican or Right wing. They are just nuts. Mitt received about 60 million votes in 2012. If all of those people were as insane as Freepers this country would be on fire. Freepers despise the Republican party. They hate everything and even each other.

    2. As I was a paid staffer of the Romney campaign in Florida, I can tell you with absolute assurance that these people are not Republicans. They're conservatives. Practically all of the ones I met like this were incapable of being reasoned with. They'd just assume throw their vote away by voting Constitution Party rather than vote for someone they saw as being "too liberal." That- by definition- proves they aren't Republican.

    3. Unknown, I don't really think they're conservatives, either. They may claim to be conservative, but I know conservatives who will occasionally vote Democratic, even in a presidential election. No, these people are crazy, reactionary wing nuts. Conservatives can at least be reasoned with.

    4. @Unknown - Since you had a small and limited peek into the campaign - what the hell happened there?

Sure, Romney were hardly the second coming of Ronald Reagan, but he's a decent guy on a personal level. Got a good track record on getting shit done on time and under budget. Knows how to get competent staff.

No blame on your part - I admire you for getting out, rolling up your sleeves and getting to work - just curious.

@Euph - nailed it. We differ. Normal, that. Still can talk about stuff and have some surprising amounts of common ground. Reminds me - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYg8T6w2L8Q&feature=youtu.be Not the sort of stuff you play, but think you'll enjoy it.

Bit how we are all feeling at the moment here. Still - sunset is here. Time to play :)

    5. So, you are telling me it's just an accident that Freepers vote Republican? LOL.

In what minor ways do the Freepers vary from the Republican platform? Tell me.

They are Fox News, Rush Limbaugh Republicans whether you guys like it or not. I've been reading them for years and years. They vote Republican, they work for their Representatives etc.

It's unseemly for you guys to say they ain't Republicans. It ain't so.

    6. @EC, Love it! I was a music major in college, and I spent a couple of semesters in the university choir. We sang songs just like that one. It was a great experience.

    7. @euph - got a real treat for you then. Amira Willighagen. You don't speak Dutch - I think - but hunt her out. You will adore her voice.

    8. Wow. You were right on both counts. I don't speak Dutch, and I adore her voice. To think that she's 9 years old and has a voice like that with no formal training.

    9. Policy-wise, Freepers and the GOP want the same ends, for the most part. The difference lies in the means they allow.

The GOP has no shortage of pragmatists, but Freepers allow any means, so long as it isn't compromise.

Beyond that, there is also the attitude. The GOP tends to believe their benefit cuts are good for America. Or, if you're more cynical, a giveaway to big business.
Freepers, on the other hand, want to stick it to the greedy blacks and/or poors.

  3. Here is a quote from Mitt Romney, recent Presidential candidate for the Republican Party. He's not one of the crazy Republicans, right? He's one of the good ones, right? In what way does his point of view differ from the Free Republic point of view?

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney said in the video. "All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what.

"And I mean the president starts out with 48, 49 percent … he starts off with a huge number," Romney continued. "These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn’t connect. So he’ll be out there talking about tax cuts for the rich. I mean, that’s what they sell every four years. And so my job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

That is pure 100% Freeper stuff. That is the Republican Party.
