Among other causes, this could just be because people are making less money and falling into lower brackets, but some Freepers have trouble with such details, and much scrambling ensues:

Taxes are a complicated thing and what your effective tax rate is has a lot of do with if you are sole proprietor business owner or work for a corporation, do you own a house or rent, how many kids you have, what type of deductions you have, what kind of investments and right-offs and investments you have.

Liberals don’t like to get into the nuances of the tax code and like to paint a broad brush because it serves their propaganda.

The title is highly misleading and the point the article is trying to make is completely fraudulent. "Taxes" and "Revenues" are two entirely different things and are inversely proportional. One is a government mandated rate of confiscation. That has most definitely increased under Obama. Revenue is dependent on the pool from which that confiscation is taken, that is taxable economic activity. So they are demanding more milk from a cow they are in the process of beating to death yet are surprised when the milk cans aren't filling up to the "plan".

I have a photo I took years ago in a Soviet garment factory of a big banner reading (in Russian) "THE PLAN IS LAW!". And we all know how that economic model turned out. Some things and some kinds of people simply never change.
