Thus, the always super powerful UN's latest treaty will somehow, despite explicetly recognizing the "legitimate international trade and lawful private ownership and use of conventional arms," lead to Obama taking all our guns!!!!!!!!!!.
Neil E. Wright is an expert on the treaty, and scare quotes:
Also included in the registration/tracking under this "treaty" are ALL civilian weapons and ammunition. It MUST be defeated! “Where liberty dwells, there is my country." –Benjamin Franklin Islam Delenda Est! REFUSE. RESIST. Do NOT Submit! ★ FREEDOM! ★rarestia knows Communism is an Arms Treat away!
If this is ratified and signed by Obama, Communism will be completely wrapped around the throat of America. There's nothing in this treaty that allows for state sovereignty to override it in any way.History Repeats is ready for the never coming nonexistent fight:
Will this be the straw that breaks the camels back or will most surrender and hang their heads?rurgan is also prepared to lay his life down for an eventuality that will never some to pass:
I’m choosing to fight. Come and take them you collection of dictators.
Obama will sign this of course.itssme is super excited to join with the righteous when what won't happen does:
I’m ready for rebellion.
RESIST, RESIST, RESIST. We’re the freedom fighters, and we need to fight this enemy of the people in the White House, like freedom fighters in wars past have done.rurgan gives the UN a lot of credit:
RESIST, RESIST, RESIST BY ANY AND ALL MEANS.
The UN is the ultimate evil in the world, a den full of marxist vipers so vile they make a multi-headed hydra seem saintly. For you to attribute anything but the ultimate evil motive to this enemy of America and freedom shows you are a democratrurgan also doesn't cotton to any of those skeptical of his craziness:
You are for this UN tyranny. You must be a democrat mole.gbs thinks Muslims and Harrison Ford movies are worthy comparisons:
This would be similar to the jihadist’s, government officials would be on their hunt for the Holy Grail in their eyes!!Carry_Okie has some trouble with the maths:
Remember: a treaty can be legally ratified by as few as 34 Senators. Harry Reid should be put under a 24/7 watch.cherokee1 expects it'll be like Occupied Germany:
After WW II during our occupation of Germany our guys made the rounds of virtually all houses looking for weapons. Mama answers the door. GI asks if they have any weapons. Mama first says “oh no, not us.” GI says we want to look around, you know you were supposed to turn them in.? . If we find any we will arrest your husband and prosecute him. Suddenly Mama remembers a Luger that’s buring under the woodpile. Because she lied at first they get to keep NO WEAPONS. Normally they would have been allowed to keep one for home defense.Errant Is calling for impeachment. Again.
You wife/girlfriend/roomate will suddenly remember where your lost Glock is. Your case will be turned over to Eric Holder. If you aren’t prepared to meet attempts at confiscation locked and loaded then you are part of the problem.———We’ve seen this rodeo before.
If Obama signs this treaty, he will be in violation of his oath to protect and defend Article II of the Constitutional Amendments. Which is, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.xzins is still a bit butthurt about the ACA decision:
IMPEACH HIS SORRY ASS!
where, after John Roberts' twisting the constitution into his own personal pretzel a few weeks back, is the section that says a judge or lawyer can't make this mean pretty much whatever they want?dartuser knows the key is to unthinkingly hate the UN no matter what:
almost anything the UN is involved with is idiotic leftist garbage.I_Publius explains that the authorities have some sort of Gun Detector.
I oppose it because its the UN, not because I think there is gun control in it.
Have you ever had an energy audit done on your home and seen the infrared, handheld scanner they use to show the inside of the walls and roof of your house?? I have and have seen what the consumer scanning tool can do. There’s no hiding anything in the house. They can drive by homes in a van equipped with a scanning device and see everything inside your home, not to mention the technology that we all use. Pretty impossible to hide all the firearms that you guys own...Travis McGee knows what time it is:
In case of high treason, there would be Rule 308 (+)Rule 308 is, of course, armed revolution - comes from the .308 bullet.
Has anyone noticed that Free Republic seems even more knee-jerk unthinking lately? I mean, I'm used to seeing shockingly wrongheaded and factually wrong arguments, but these days they don't even seem to be bothering with the argument.
I'm assuming the increased insanity lately could be from the fact that many of them have moved on to sites like True Blue Liberty, been banned for not liking the right guy, and died off from old age, leaving only the most batshit of them. It's like the foul taste of the raw FR onion has been caramelized down to its sweet, sweet constituent elements.
ReplyDeleteI've avoided going to True Blue Liberty, only because I don't have the time / energy to lurk two crazy sites. Anyone have a field report on True Blue Liberty?
DeleteI think they're worried because it's an election year, they'll be forced to choose between the hated Romney and the even more hated Obama, they know Obama is ahead in the polls and they fear that Obama will be reelected. They're desperate to do something about it, but they're too irrelevant to affect the Republican party. The only thing they can do is cry like babies and wish for a chance to use weapons against people they don't like. Any flimsy excuse will do.
ReplyDeleteJust the other day I was thinking that it must be true that the more rational Freepers are drifting away.
ReplyDeleteYes, every once and awhile a poster will lament how crazy things are getting. Actually dartuser only posted his rant against the UN because earlier in this thread he was dubious about this treaty's relevance to private ownership of guns, and came under rhetorical fire.
ReplyDeleteSo does anyone understand this sometimes-made reference to losing guns in a boating accident? As far as I can figure out it concerns their fear that if a gun is registered then eventually the federal government will come to collect it.
The boating accident thing is supposed to be the story you tell the jack-booted thugs when they show up to confiscate the guns you previously had to register. You say "Oh, I lost them all in a boating accident" when in fact you have them all buried in your backyard, ready to fight the liberal hordes when the revolution starts.
DeleteI've been hanging out on FR way too long.
The movies may have given you a mistaken impression of Bonnie and Clyde, famous Texas bank robbers. From the movies you'd think their weapon of choice was the machine gun but it was really the pump action shotgun. During WWI the Germans complained to the Americans, if I recall my reading correctly, because it was so effective in trench warfare. I got one for Christmas when I was 12 years old.
ReplyDeleteWe already have a fair measure of gun control. Freepers tend to ignore this because, I think, they are in agreement with it. It takes a special license to own a machine gun and no one, as far as I know, can own a rocket launcher or a grenade or land mines without being outside the law. I think if Freepers were honest, they'd agree that turning the public loose with such weapons is a very bad idea.
Freepers really are for gun control. Nobody wants our resident schizophrenics going down to Wal-Mart to buy automatic weapons with nothing but a smile and a pile of cash. Nobody. Nobody wants our crazies shooting the local news helicopter out of the sky with an RPG. Freepers know this. Do they ever go on a tirade, do you see them out on the street with signs that say, "Free the RPG!" Hell no.
We already have some measure of gun control and Freepers are OK with it. The only argument left is where to draw the line. The line moves over time. Clinton and Romney both came out for restrictions on assault weapons but this is just quibbling over the details. The big issue has already been decided and Freepers are OK with it.
This quibbling is just for politics, just for votes.
Perhaps I have written this poorly. Allow me please to reiterate. Do you see Freepers politicking for free and easy access to machine guns? No. Why? They are for gun control.
Oh, I've seen plenty of Freepers argue for easy access to machine guns. I've even seen a few of them argue for private ownership of nuclear weapons.
DeleteWell-said sir!
DeleteI consider myself to be as lib as they come...
... except with respect to gun control. Seriously that's the only issue (I think) where I fall solidly on the libertarian side. I think that with the proper back-ground checks, screenings, hoops to jump through and forms filed, a person should be able to buy a howitzer or something like that.
HOWEVER, I would never use arguments like the ones freepers use, I would never be paranoid about this treaty and I hope I'd be able to argue my case using logic, rational thought, good punctuation (not counting the ellipses above for effect) and no logical fallacies. Ultimately we live in a democracy and I'll abide by the law of the land if/when guns are outlawed or restricted. But it's my opinion that they are useful in a free society, much more than a standing army is.
Oh yeah, and I'll never join the NRA. Those guys can suck my a$$
Any Freeper who so much as hints at not following the official JimRob line is summarily zotted. This weeds out all but the most fanatical posters.
ReplyDeleteIt's survival of the derpiest.
As Free Repblic becomes more and more an outlet for the lunatic frigne, it becomes more and more the possible source for gun violence.
ReplyDeleteDid you see the thread about Obama and riots etc? It is not as though there is no history of violence connected with Free Republic.
