Every one of those studies that claimed blacks got "harsher" sentences for "equal" crimes, purpously equated unequal circumstances, unequal prior convictions, and unequal levels of violence inflicted on the victim(s).
If it really us such a problem, then go with longer sentences for whites.
It's not a color issue, it's a socioeconomic status issue. Minorities are disproportionately represented in low income areas. That's the root of the problem.

Actually doing something about it would be better. The question is - "What?" Everyone knows there is a problem. There is violence in the inner cities, which creates more violence. Damn few teachers want to work there, which reduces the chance of a decent education, or even getting that one teacher that inspires you and makes a difference to your life. Family life seems to have fallen apart and no one knows how to fix it. Jobs - well, they aren't really there any more. The places are falling apart because no one cares.
