The Trump Push makes me sad.

I must admit to be somewhat surprised at how Free Republic has become all Trump all the time. Palin is old and busted, and Bachmann's shelf-life is likewise fading. It seems for all their yelling about RINOS and requiring ideological purity, all it really takes is a fresh face, and talking points from NewsMax.

I never thought I'd say it, but I'm disappointed in Free Republic. I thought I could at least count on them to be loyal in their cults of personality. I guess hate for Obama is stronger than love.

omega4179 - Trump is cure, and the GOP not buying into every Obama conspiracy is the disease:

Where are the congressional committees we where promised? Where are the investigations? Trumps arrival is the result of a terminal disease in DC.

Sprite518 mistakes mockery for fear - the same thing Freepers used to do for Their Sarah.

The fact that the LEFT IS GOING BALLISTIC and targeting him you know instantly the he is the front runner. I don’t care what any poll says.

The fact that he has respect for our Constitution AND IS NOT AFRAID TO BE LABELED A RACIST (like all the rest of the Republican Candidates) gives me great respect for him.

You can rest assure none of the other Republican candidates will ever say anything. Notice how SILENT all the other Republican candidates are about the Birth issue.

Trump can get more votes than any other Republican candidate. You can count on that.

Trump/Bachmann 2012

tsowellfan has a different ticket in mind:

Trump / Rubio would be a very powerful ticket.

Heck, if Biden drops out Obama would have to pick a latino to compete with that or even better pick McCain as his VP.

If we’re going to go with Trump why not make it interesting with a...

Donald Trump / Alan Keyes 2012

teenyelliott has yet another Trump/Freeper ticket:
DONALD TRUMP/HERMAIN CAINThat ticket would get rid of Soetoro in a skinny minute.
What about Trump/Reagan?

Sir Francis Dashwood has a favorite candidate I did not expect:

I left the Republican party when they nominated McCain...

And after just finishing Donald Rumsfeld’s book yesterday, Rumsfeld would be my ideal president. (I sincerely doubt that the other 90% of my fellow Americans could get past the first chapter.)

RockinRight thinks voters are just like girls:

To me it reminds me of that guy who was such an overconfident jerk that got all the girls.

He was SO confident, and really didn’t care what happened, that it made the girls fawn all over him.

This is what is happening here with The Donald.

Scott from the Left Coast is basically too depressed to vote for anything other than spite:
sick of the scum everywhere...sick of the million Romney politicians. I'll look at Trump, why not...as others have said (or pictured) here, he's got balls. That's a f--- of a lot more than anyone else in the race has shown. I don't give a F anymore...if you have courage, I'll listen
tsowellfan has a metaphor:

We have a man standing on the street corner burning our Constitution and Trump stands up in the square complaining about it and the so called “conservatives” attack the messenger and ignore the burning of the Constitution.

I guess we’re learning that for some Party Ideology trumps all even the US Constitution.

And by US Constitution, tsowellfan means things he likes.

  1. Of course, "he has respect for our Constitution AND IS NOT AFRAID TO BE LABELED A RACIST" naturally means, "he is a batshit crazy birther."

I, for one, can't wait for the 2012 election primaries where Republicans battle it out for who is more batshit insane. Making themselves electable for their base will ensure they will not be electable in the general election.

  2. @euphgeek,
I cannot wait for 2012, and hopefully the Repubs nominate someone who has the guts and brains to solve the nation's issues.

And oh BTW, here is our hopey-changey "new kind of politician" reaching across the aisle.

Obama hated the GOP from day 1. He is a liar and flip-flopper extrordinaire. Politico reveals that he onlk kept 23% of his promises. Telegraph (UK paper) reveals the insane flip-flops of Obama. This guy is lying partisan hack and GOP should try their best to defeat him (showboating blowhards like Trump need not apply)

  3. @Anonymous,

And oh BTW, here is our hopey-changey "new kind of politician" reaching across the aisle.

Sure, he may have said some things that were less than diplomatic. But haven't we in the past praised tough-talking presidents both Democratic and Republican?

Obama hated the GOP from day 1.

That would be fair since the GOP has hated him from day 1 as well, but I didn't exactly see any hatred from him in that clip. Frustration, perhaps, since they didn't supported a single thing he did even if they were the ones who proposed it. If it were me, I'd probably be swearing at them by now.

He is a liar and flip-flopper extrordinaire.

Really? I'd like to see a citation for that. What exactly are you counting as lies? Out of 293 statements evaluated by PolitiFact (which includes statements said by others about Obama), 205 have been rated as at least half true. And has he flip-flopped any more than any other president?

Politico reveals that he onlk kept 23% of his promises.

Well I suppose if you only count the number of promises kept and not compromised on, sure. But according to PolitiFact, he's only broken 8% of his promises. The rest were a compromise, are stalled or are still in the works. Seriously, can you name a single president that has been able to keep even a majority of their promises? The president is not a dictator and I think that's a good thing, don't you?

GOP should try their best to defeat him

Of course they should. But right now it looks like the crazy people have taken over the GOP so it doesn't look too promising for them. Look at it this way: If Republicans do go full-on insane in 2012 and lose by a huge margin (not that I wouldn't enjoy every minute, I'll admit), maybe they'll learn to start ignoring the far right wingnuts. Then we can start to have honest debates about what's best for our country. And that would be a win for both sides.
