Freepers: too racist for Free Republic.

This thread got pulled ("not enough babysitters" as the reason), so I'm using the cached version.

It looks like a mainstream Flemish newspaper published a picture of Obama and Michelle made up to look like Planet of the Apes. Its in the context of joking that Putin sent them, but....yeah. Maybe in Europe they don't get the resonance?

Regardless,Freepers see an excuse to wallow in racism, and go for it.

CodeToad complains that liberals are always being racist, so this is okay...?
Liberals love name calling and making racist comments but they can’t take it. Typical children on a playground. I ignore their retarded comments as nothing more than childish outbursts.
SampleMan blames Obama:
I’m so glad that respect for the U.S. went way up when Obama was elected.
Candor7 also explains how this proves Obama is hated overseas:
Thats pretty much how Europe feels about Obama, after he removed the missile defence shield from Poland, wrongfully convinced NATO to attack Libya, and now doing nothing about Putin annexings Crimea by force.

The paper would have been more accurate if they had portrayed them as two headed apes!
As he does, dalereed just runs straight into the trope, full speed:
Just trying to honestly depict their intelligence.
meadsjn misses the racism, because he hates Obama for resurrecting racism:
Most of the civilized people of the world are disappointed at odinga for many of the same reasons that civilized Americans are.

odinga came out of the gate as a commie, racist POS, and has only gotten worse as the days go by. He destroyed a half century of progress in race relations in the USA, and may well have set the stage for a permanent split between many groups of people here.

96% of black voters voted for the usurper in 2008. Even with the economic damage he created in the first term, 93% of black voters supported him again, simply based on his skin color. That is unforgivable.

It is not racist to recognize a dangerous, divisive, and subhuman individual as being just that, regardless of his skin color. To ignore odinga's dangerous, divisive, and subhuman behavior because of his skin color is, in fact, racist.
dayglored continues with the paradigm that this is just showing how Obama is dumb. Nope, no racism here!
It would have been more accurate to depict them as pigs.

Pigs are very intelligent (as are apes). Perhaps the whole thing should be rethought.
RginTN is pretty sure evolution makes all species the same:
Why the outrage? Apes according to scientists are evolutionary our ancestors.
BlueDragon is reminded how he kinda hates Obama's kids too:
Planet of the Apes ping?

...i think they think this is their planet. Like -- it is owed to them.

Lord knows they fly themselves and their children all of the face of it, inconveniencing all at the cost of thousands of $$$ per minute of their little voyages.

Shrillary and her spoiled brat did much the same. Hmm...what did that mother-daughter pair cost the U.S. taxpayer? half a billion maybe?

I loathe these selfish wasteful creeps. I'm beginning to dislike the Obama children too. Something about their facial expressions. Oh, well, maybe they'll wise up someday(?), if they can get far enough away from their momma.
Royal Wulff slyly makes a joke about Michelle looking like an ape:
Why did they only photoshop Barack?
LucyT sees what's coming:
In before this thread is pulled. We must not make fun of dear leader and the moosh.
Yeah, that oppressive Free Republic, always protecting Obama from mockery!

  1. But, but Binaryboy (and every other Freeper) has said that conservatives aren't racist. It's those mean ole liberals.

How do you define racism? No - we'll not convince each other, but it may be fun.

    2. Yet by definition, your tribe, clan, whatever must be superior to all others. No one wants to be a loser - that is for "the other guy."

Or the other sex - just putting that out there to discard it. I am going to use he in the generic sense for a minute - my apologies for being genderist!

It does seem to be the same basic mechanism to me though. His food smells funny. He doesn't look like me. He don't speak what I speak like.
We really that fucking petty? Empirical evidence is yes - even here.

  2. I don't know how the Republican Party will move past this. The leadership made an effort after their loss in 2012 to become more inclusive but the base would not have it.

  3. 200 "utes" going on attack in Louisville, young utes bricking a white gal at temple.. and not a word from Jesse or Al..or the liberal media..hhmmmm..

No wonder people are getting pissed off at giving blacks a pass at every turn?

BTW, Read a new term at FR today.. "North American Pavement Apes" lol

    2. Actually all those incidents were reported by the main stream (liberal) media ...
just because you get all your news from WND.com doesn't mean they actually offer original reporting.

    3. Yes the race of the perps was reported and videos of them were aired by the main stream (liberal) media.

    4. You are absolutely right, anon1. I suggest that you email everyone you know. Direct them to that wellspring of truth, World Net Daily. Perhaps you could title that mass email, "Wake up, sheeple!" Something like that.

In addition, be sure to send World Net Daily as much money as you can. Give till it hurts. They are doing God's work.

And, again, thank you, anon1. People like you are making this country a better place. You've got people running away from the Republican Party in droves. Well done.

    5. Come on. World Nut Daily is a source of amusement. There are times I think it is a far subtler version of the Onion.

Most of the time, it is more like Beck - "Tune in tomorrow for some earth shattering revelation" that every political junkie has known for 6 months.

Not going to totally diss them - they get the odd story right. Not going to give them a pass on the BS, either. To use a favored, though grudging, Freeper saying - a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I did a check - VERY unscientific. News reports only for the last week, both political and criminal. There is a small but noticable bias towards not reporting race or politics in the headlines - and most people skim the headlines more than anything else.

    6. ay-nony-nony the race was only reported after it went through the 'net and people started bringing it up..all of the original reports of the brick case, the race of the perps was never brought up...and they still have not brought up the point the victim was white.. you libs are way too easy...notice you did not contradict my hate crimes point.

      Delete
    7. Yes they did, they showed videos from the beginning and interviewed victims.
Nobody said these weren't "hate" crimes, but you people don't believe in "hate" crimes anyway.

Bullshit..race was never brought up until it was "filtered' through the 'net and people brought it up..The police only put the videos out after public outrage.

    9. More black-on-white crimes are charged with "hate crime" add-ons than white-on-black crimes.

The races of the perpetrators and victims was known from the beginning, from the main stream (liberal) media.
But you people always claim to not care about "thought" (hate) crimes anyway.
You people just claim to care about the crime, with no consideration to motivation, that there should never be any "hate" motovations considered in the prosecutions.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------Oh please..I'm pointing out the double standard..if this was a gang of whites doing this to black couple the caravan of tv news trucks going to the scene of the rime would create gas shortage.

      Delete
    12. "... the scene of the rime ..."
The scene of crusty ice formed on a roadway at near freezing temperatures? News crews don't often flock to scenes of rime.

But, quite a few main stream (liberal) media crews did cover these crimes though, so it seems your contention that the main stream (liberal) media ignored these crimes because they weren't white-on-black is incorrect.

If it weren't for main stream (liberal) coverage, WorldNet Daily and Stormfront and your other favored news sites would have nothing to spin.

  7. You can make a case that the media might have played down the whole black mob thing in Kentucky by not mentioning race and have a totally valid point.

The problem is when you start calling them "ferals" and "pavement apes". Just say a group of teenagers were being assholes. If you must, say it was predominantly black. But using terribly racist terms doesn't help anyone in this situation.

  8. Nice find! Went there for the stupid, stayed for the pictures. ;)

I sort of glaze over now on the Ukraine threads there. They have gone the way of the protestant/catholic flame wars. Bunch of Putinistas and bunch of Franks duking it out.

(Franks is my term for shrilly anti communist cowards - Frank Burns, from M.A.S.H)

  9. Ha, that's the perfect name for them. I never could see what Margaret saw in him, other than someone to boss around.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hotlips was probably the most delicately written character in the series (Except for Radar! You try writing innocence, even for laughs)

She had a mix of no nonsense bossiness and a striking vulnerability that came out at odd times. She was army because she was an army brat. A nurse because that was the only way she could be front line.
She hated it. I am thinking of the episode when she finds out her sister is getting married in particular, but she was really well written and Loretta Swit played her to perfection. She had quite an input into the script, too - a lot of the dialogue was ad-libbed.

Besides - you never forget your first crush ....

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah, she wasn't as one-dimensional as Frank was. Incidentally, I just remembered that Keith Olbermann used to call Bill O'Reilly "the Frank Burns of television" (among other things).

I didn't know that Margaret's lines were ad-libbed. I knew that Robin Williams did that when he played Mork, but Margaret's character doesn't seem like it would lend itself to that kind of ad-libbing.

    ReplyDelete
  12. A lot of the stuff in surgery was ad-libbed. They'd have a start line and just stay in character and run with it.

In the last two seasons, when Alan Alda were directing, they extended it slightly to the more scripted scenes - it balanced out the slight preachiness of the story lines. (Yes, I am a fan of his too - "Same Time Next Year?" is funny, sad haunting and wonderful) I recall an interview with Harry Morgan (Col. Potter) in 19 mind your own business, he ad-libbed most of his lines as well. Couldn't see the prompt boards without his glasses, and you rarely saw him wearing them.

A lot of them were groundbreaking at the time, but now - not so much. Watch House and Hawkeye becomes an also-ran, even though he was first and paved the way. Still good fun though!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I loved Hawkeye and his Groucho Marx sense of humor. Guess that makes him a Marxist (yuk yuk yuk!).

I thought that Col. Potter was always wearing his round spectacles, but an image search shows more pictures of him without than with, so I guess you're right there.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Pretty much only in the heavily scripted scenes - office or tent mainly.

They used all sorts of neat tricks - since writing and shooting was done fast, no one really had time to memorize the scripts. Prompt boards just out of shot, scripts stuck to the hidden side of the desk or taped to the sheet covering the patients in OR (you always see them from a low angle unless something dramatic happens to them), stuck on the roof of the mess tents and personal tents, on the patient's charts.

Love this stuff, find it fascinating.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Trivia can sure be fascinating, I agree. I had heard that they consulted actual military doctors to find out how they would react in certain situations to give it more realism.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yep - Military Doctors, Veterans of the war, Supply clerks - the works. You remember Rizzo? His sidekick, who almost never spoke, was a real motor pool mechanic, and a lot of the gambling scenes were direct from his memory.

I love that series - you may have noticed!
