Whither Cain

Via the indefatigable euphgeek, though I totally found it too.

Cain has a rambling and incoherent answer when asked his opinion about Obama's action in Libya. It's clear he has no idea what to say, and he's just trying to distract and stall as best he can.

Freepers reactions are mixed. About half have jumped ship, either to Newt or elsewhere. The other half stubbornly soldier on attacking the media. I focused on the second half, cause the first half made too much sense for this blog.

Signalman wants a winner like Newt:
This will be used against him should he get the nomination. The Dem ads will show clips of him making erroneous statements and say he’s unprepared to be President. I like Cain but I want a winner, and I’m beginning to think Newt may be the guy. Nobody on the stage knows policy as much as him.
leswhaley cuts Cain some slack cause he's under a lot of stress:
It’s no worse than watching Obama when he goes off teleprompter. And I cut Cain some slack on this one.

I say let’s forgive him and see how he does when all this whole “sexual allegation” thing has finally blown over. Can you imagine the stress he must be under?
Utmost Certainty also forgives Cain for being human.
Presidents are only human, they’re not superheros. Hence, they’re subject to the same human limitations as the rest of us.
parksstp blames the media for their low-down reporting on things:

there is NO ONE who knows what’s going on with every issue 24/7. The MSM will point out every weakness in each candidate.

Not pointing out weaknesses! How dastardly!

bubman doesn't want someone who has a full grasp of the issues:
I saw it four times and honestly cannot see what the big deal is. it looks to me like a sit down conversation where ideas and comments are not framed in 30 second soundbites. Does he have a full grasp of all the issues? Well Romney does and no one wants him.
Berlin_Freeper posits that Cain was just helping out the reporter who asked a stupid question:

The question was asked poorly.

Question: Do you agree with Obama about Libya?

Answer: No, I do not agree with Obama about Libya.

And that would have been it.

But Cain is too thoughtful, kind and respectful to tell this guy he is a dope - so Cain attempts to make the question worthwhile and at the same time is trying to answer it.

Cain is doing both his job and the dumbass reporter’s job at the same time.

kanawa thinks the silences and confusion are a sign of deep thought.

My goodness, I thought it was an excellent response.

He focused on the importance of knowing who the US was supporting, the nature of the opposition.

He recognized that he was not privy to the information available to Obama so he refrained from criticizing specific actions,
but rather focused on what elements would be important in his decision making process.

I saw an intelligent man, engaged in what appears to be a fairly relaxed interview,
taking time to gather his thoughts in order to clearly explain his position

All Electric Graffiti is that Obama is a Muslim
I didn't know what position or why Obama was in Libya. All his muslim buddies, like Farrakhan, loved Gaddifi. Obama got his orders from elsewhere......Obama was just following the bouncing ball.

All I know is the result in Libya will be Al Queda at the helm. Obama wants an unified Islamic caliphate.......Cain is right.
Paperdoll has decided God loves Cain, and the exclamation point is his Holy Sign:
All the Obamabots or Romneybots are not doing America any good with their lies. Here is my take on the media:

We are at war on a different battlefield here!

Obama and his Evil ilk against Christian Conservatives! If Evil can beat us on this turf, they will beat us in 2012! So the biggest battle is going on right now! Will Evil conquer Good?

It is up to us! Let us hope the American voter will win by electing the man who frightens Evil the most!

Vote for the man with the plan who can, the only man who can save the country from eternal rank Evil! Turn back to God! There are more of us than there are of them! And greater is He who is in us that he who is in the world!

Please stand by the man they fear the most, Herman Cain!

American Dream 246 solves everything:

RUN Sarah RUN!!!

  1. At this rate, the Freepers are going to run out of candidates to throw their "valuable" weight behind. Definitely looks like about half are jumping off the Cain bandwagon. After that, the only ones left that are polling outside the single digits and/or have promised to run through all primaries win or lose are Gingrich, Romney, and Paul.

And right now the Freepers have already dismissed Newt and can't decide who they hate more in Paul and Romney.

What's hilarious is the other day they purged a guy named bullypulpit from the site for posting an article about Cain sinking in the polls. Actually, one of the brownshirts searched for personal info about the guy and posted his LinkedIn resume.

  2. Boy, is that 'paperdoll' your typical Freeper theocrat or what? Actually I'd like to think most Freepers are not conscious Christian versions of the Taliban, but rather simply provincial folks with an incoherent mish-mash of ideas that bundle Evangelical Christianity and Christ Himself with right wing politics.

Most likely, they're just rubes who have fallen for the RNC cultivation of the idea that voting for the GOP is somehow an Evangelical Christian article of faith.

I've got no issue (for disclosure's sake, I'm a Catholic) with someone like her talking about the need to turn back to God to improve things. But that is more appropriate at the personal level, not at the national political level (i.e., I think God would be more concerned with the personal status of our souls than whether we elect GOP candidates).

That said, I view many in the Evangelical Right of viewing their spirituality as identity politics. It's much easier to bitch on the 'net about the liberals, the blacks, the homosexuals, etc., than to actually live like a Christian. And if I had to guess, the Christianity of plenty of Freepers starts and ends with going on FR and posting things like "prayers up!" (I doubt an actual prayer is said, just "prayer's up!").

Charity? Donating time at a soup kitchen or a homeless shelter? Counseling troubled people? Visiting the sick? or people in prison? Nah. That takes real effort.

  3. Prayers up!

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

  4. They sure are going to great lengths to not support Mitt Romney, aren't they?

By the way, I can't wait to see what adjective you use to describe me next. First it was prolific, now it's indefatigable. :)

  5. Anonymous, great Scripture citation! I've actually used that before in debating with certain Freeper types. The whole praying in public thing fits in with the Freeper Christian Identity thing.

They're exactly the type of people that bring up their Christianity to get themselves attention or to hammer their political arguments away with.

If they wanted to be real Christians they'd focus less on that and more on "not letting their left hands know what the right hand is doing", to paraphrase another verse related to the one you cited.
