cheap education

Rick Perry says the cost of a college degree is too high, and promises to lower it to $10,000. I agree, though I'm skeptical. Freepers, though, want to take it further:

Cincinatus' Wife has an interesting idea of what's going on in college:

For too long, students have not been required or encouraged to read.

But they do have sex ed.

Lest you think she's talking about high school, Cincinatus' Wife has another comment:

Leftists would rather students (and their parents) run up huge student loan balances that take years to pay back to the government (that government can forgive if you go where they want and do what they want) while they indoctrinate them.

Big UNION education and LIBERAL academic think-tanks are after Gov. Perry’s hide (as are the trial lawyers).

Yeah, high fees are totally a liberal plot!

GBA just wants to reform everything!
Virtually everything liberals and progressives have had influence over has to be reformed and we would do well to start with education.
Presbyterian Reporter has a plan:

This is a smart move by Gov Perry to say that a college degree should only cost $10,000 for books and tuition.

The parents will vote for him and the kids will vote for him.

And by reducing tuitio

n it will take money away from dingbat leftist professors.

Remember it is ObamaCare that burdened parents until their kids reached age 26.

Yeah, allowing parents to put their kids on their health care is a burden!

  1. And with no "liberal" professors left, I'm sure that Freepers would be glad to step in and take their jobs. I'm sure they'll be even happier when the college professor's meager pay is downgraded to a pittance with college tuition going down.

  2. Something is amiss at Free Republic. They've lost their vim and vigor. What's happened? I miss their particular brand of balls out crazy.

Perhaps it was the drubbing they took over the birther issue. Perhaps it's Palin's lack of interest in running for President. Free Republic is full of dispirited people these days. They aren't even getting their hate on as they once did.

Is it that they are beginning to realize they are going to have to line up and vote for a Mormon? That's possible but if that were so, they'd be learning to love Perry but that doesn't seem to be the case.

What is wrong with Free Republic? Why are they so sad?

  3. I'm watching Jon Stewart right now, and he's doing a bit about how absolutely everyone isn't right wing enough for Republican voters. Stewart is playing it for laughs but I'm thinking that this is actually the case. Perry got booed when he made these comments on education, and I'm thinking that even the current batch of extreme right candidates aren't right wing enough for the hardcore conservative types and that's why Freepers is so sad these days.

  4. I think that's pretty perceptive, Anonymous. I didn't realize it till you said so, but I do believe the crazy hate level seems to by dying down at the moment.

If I had to guess, I'd say the primary is sapping their unified focus on hating Obama.
